Smile my alphawerks headers.................

hey guys, like some must know, I just got my A/W headers installed. There was no issue with the O2 sensor, so I'm happy about that.

However, I am concerned about one thing. When I turn on my engine for the first time in the morning, it does a rattling/grinding sound. Very loud actually. It doesnt do it very loud on idle, but when I start moving its very annoying. But once the car gets hot, the sound is AMAZING! so what the hell is the problem with these headers? Are my gaskets maybe used up too much?

Check your heat shields in the exhaust/cat. It may not be the headers. Something in the exhaust system may have gotten loose while the install was being done. The only thing I could think of rattling might be a loose bolt.

When the metal heats up it expands and so what ever is loose becomes tight

When you start the car get under it and see if you can narrow down where the noise is coming from

Heat sheild? Can you pinpoint the spot to where the noise is appearing?

I'm gonna provide some feedback on that later on as well. And I will do a detailed photoshoot of the AWs for everyone to see. I got a nice camera so the pictures will be of good quality. It's not gonna happen for another 2 weeks though because one of the pieces I received needs replacing.

There's a heatshield for the AW headers? I didn't see any bolts or holes for the stock heatshields to go onto or into for my 3rd batch Megan Racing headers...

the resonance is only for like 1 minute when the engine is really cold. but the heatshield was causing the problem, but by simply taking the bottom part off, the problem was solved!

I think he's referring to the exhaust or catalytic converter b/c there is no heatshield on the headers.

Glad to hear you fixed the problem and glad to hear you like the AW headers.

which batch did you get? I installed mine last week, and the o2 sensor is too further front, and the wires coming out from the o2 sensor is pressed tightly against the silver metal thing. I am worried about that a little. Are you having that issue?
