Motorcycle Insurance (CA Bay Area)
Hey, I might soon become a motorcycle owner (looking at friend's 1997 CBR600F3 to buy used)...
If any of you guys have bikes, can you suggest an insurance company that will give a fair deal (that's available in my area of California)? I'm concerned, because I'm 21 and male and single, and don't want to pay a completely ludicrous amount.
My record is spotless so far... I have ONE speeding ticket that i'm still in the process of fighting, but we'll see how that works out in the end![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Also, any comments on the bike I'm thinking of buying? It has 11.0 quarter mile stock, from what I'm told

Call this guy. My insurance cost dropped in half from what I was paying, for the same coverage. He offers Progressive, Universal, and others.

As for the bike, you're doing the right thing by buying used, and the F3 isn't as crazy as some of the other possibilities, but it still isn't one of the better bikes to learn on. There was a decent thread on this on another board I frequent, so I'll post a link rather than reposting all the same information:

Good luck.
One thing I will add to this thread though, is be careful. And even if you're careful, understand the risks. I'm going to funeral services this weekend for a good friend who had a tragic motorcycle accident on Sunday.
Ride safe.

i pay less than $400 a year. though my agent is hella cool so he puts my dad as the rider. car insurance is a bitch though. give me a holla once you get your bike. we can go down to alice's or the wall in berkley. good rides. there's a newbie track day in august too. let me know if you're interested.
