The Mother of All Ricer Flyby's :)

so i'm doin 80 on the Long Island Expy. tonight returning home, and a blue MR2 and black riced out Teg blew by doin around 90+...my thoughts - "i just got a speeding ticket a little over a month ago...but i have V1"...so i constantly went back and forth what i should do...so i hang back and stay at 80 and let them duke it out, now goin closer to 100...about a minute later, we get into an area no cops can stake out, and i was itchin since the weather outside was sub 60 degrees and no humidity...so i decided to give these 2 clowns the reason y the CLSOWNZU

so down to 3rd, and up to 4th at 120...by the time i reach 130, im blowin by them...reach the top of an uphill only to see.......................

he was backing up into a sniper position behind an overpass...i slam on the brake, throw it back down into 3rd, get into center lane (i was in the right and had to swerve to avoid a car), steering wheel shimmy'ing like a mofo, RPM's skyrocketing...the MR2 was behind me and was able to slow without swerving...but the black Teg didn't see the cop until too late...he "buzzed the tower" BIGTIME, prob around 90-100 and slowed to around 75 before getting in the right lane and trying to lose the smokey, but the smokey was impressively accurate in catching up to him and getting off at the same exit

so once again, poor judgment on my part...fortunately, i learned my lesson the semi-hard, non-implicable way

LIE West at the Sunnyside Blvd overpass is where the smokey was backing up behind to sniper...it's between Exit 46 and when the Northern State feeds into the LIE...at Exit 46, there's a stretch of about 1.5 miles where u can get up to about 130, provided no smokeys r on the shoulder...when u go up a slight incline, there's a clearing, and the overpass is about a half a mile down in plain sight...since all 3 of us saw backup lights, we didn't know who it was...when the smokey turned to backup into his position, that's when i and the MR2 braked hard, while the Teg kept goin...i think we blocked his field of vision since the direct line of sight from him to the smokey seemed to b right through the MR2 and me...when the Teg passed and realized the smokey was there, he braked hard, got into the right lane and kept goin...as i passed, i saw the smokey's dome light was on, and he was starin the Teg down bigtime with not a nice look on his face

now the way the LIE is situated after the Sunnyside bridge overpass is interesting...u got feed-in traffic from Northern State Pkwy FROM the right, and u got 2 exits branching away TO the right (Route 135 exit and Oyster Bay exit), so it's like a little bottle neck for about a 1/4 mile...plus u have to clear another ridge in order to see these exits, and the Teg knew this, which is why after he cleared the ridge and disappeared from our field of vision, he floored it and took the Route 135 exit, a 2 lane exit that feeds into the major north/south highway...i was shocked the smokey knew where the Teg went...dunno if the Teg was nailed, but i'm sure glad i wasn't...BTW, V1 did NOT go off at any point during this event

He probably didn't get an actual speed on him b/c he was getting into positon, but he had probable cause for at least careless driving....

tell u this tho...goin 120+ in our car is almost symphonic...u can hear the car splice through the air like butter...the constant roar of the engine when u hit 5K in 4th...the surprisingly smooth and unintrusive ride...quite a feeling

I've done 140 on that stretch in a Supra...had to teach this Stang a lesson...and over the weekend i was driving it around State College, PA..0 humidity, 53 degrees and no clouds, I was punishing this group of Camaros on Route 23..i wish i could drive it everyday but I can't

Any MKII MR2 runs out of steam beyond 110, turbos included....

HEy quikcls, you know what a ricer is right? Well a ricer flyby is when you race one of the riced out cars, and you beat him bad. Then a couple seconds later, knowing that you slowed down, they will fly past you thinking they won the race. Well maybe they don't know you slowed down, they might just think that their stickers kicked in and gave them that winning edge.

Hey I live right off the LIE. If you ever see a 93 red RX7 that's loud as hell, no wing, vented hood, and Blitz rims , it's me. Oh and a silver CL Type S with a big dent in the trunk that's me too
