More bass from stock Bose system?

i changed my front speakers to JL Audio components, but havent changed the rear 6x9's yet and i noticed that i have more bass now. anybody else ever done this and notice more bass? its like the stock front speakers were cancelling the rears or something.

No. What happened is that the aftermarket speakers are both:

less efficient and
higher impedence

Both of the factors together have DROPPED the re;lative volume output of the fronts. ie you have no more bass, just more energy from the rears. You could have achieved the same "morebass" effect by just fading more to the rear before you changed your speakers.

Changing speakers

Did you just change out the front speakers w/o adding and amp? I've read that because of the impendance of the Bose system that was not a good thing to do. I've been told consistently that when you change one piece of the Bose system, you have to change it all. I've got Polk speakers that I want to drop in the front, but I'm waiting to buy 6x9's for the rear and a four channel amp.

Check in the A/V Electronics section, there have been tons of threads on this topic. Basically the Bose amp and speakers have an odd impedance. So yes, if you want to do it right, when you change the speakers, change the amp. Or bypass it totally with a different head unit.
