It might be the end of the road for me....
Hey Azine,
I haven't really been on here much for the past year or two. I tried to "recatch" the mod bug; purchased a supercharger, one of my dream wheels, Rotora BBK, etc but it isn't working for me. I lost almost all interest in the CL. I've learned so much throughout the years with this car so there's no regret of putting so much work into it. This isn't the first time I thought about parting out either, but really I've been yearning for a true performance car, maybe a e46 M3, or a Legacy GT, or just something else.
This thread is my last hope to rejuvenate my interest in keeping the CL, but to be honest at this point I'm pretty set on parting out.
If I do, I will have a thread out soon latest is mid March when I have more time to swap parts. Happy modding to the rest of you.

to see, but sometimes you gotta be able to move on though...
and considering there have already been times of parting it out, i don't really see the LOVE coming back (especially since you said you have already bought some high $ items for it, and it has not come back yet)

Drifting
i had the serious itch for another car not long ago. i drove alot of other cars and while some were faster, some were more luxurious, and some had more room, none felt like my cls.

We all have to move on at some point.
What happened with the S2k thing? Werent you getting one last time you had the CL for sale?
Sucks to see you go, and I hope whomever ends up buying the CL takes care of it.

Based on what I know about cars, what I've owned, and what I would want, I'm only going to be getting a 09 WRX Wagon. I had an M3 E46 back in '02 and spent $9k in 6 months on that car without doing a single modification! Payments & the first service took all $9k. A few months later I got the exhaust, a BBK with some BBS wheels. Sold it a week after that. The upkeep on that car was ridiculous. If you really want one, a friend of mine is selling a white one with some very nice wheels, GREAT brakes, exhaust w/ cutout, etc etc but a good example of what can go wrong - his key stopped working. Turns out the chip in the key was bad, but they can't sync a new key to the ECU, so he had to buy the keys AND the ECU!!! Expensive day.
The S2k will get boring really quick even if you do a full rebuild with turbo. The car is fun, but gets old quick. I had a supercharged one for about 3 months. It just got annoying as it's the mix of a "ricer" type car but yet can be on the track with some of the high end cars out there (would beat most M3s, 350zs, etc on the track) but it just never fulfilled what I was looking for in a car. The M3 was much more fun and neck breaker.
The sad thing is, I had more fun in my last car (97 civic) than most other cars, but that was mainly because it was like a go-kart. But that is not practical for an adult.
I would recommend getting a Subaru over just about any other car. The reliability is amazing, service is reasonable, mods are all over the place, they're AWD and if your future has the cards, it can still be a family car.
Just my

One of my coworkers is looking at getting the L-GT Wagon! And my mom has the Legacy GT and I drive it in the winter sometimes for fun. It's definitely a fun car. It helps that my brother is a Subaru tech, he swears by them, but drives two Chevy's! haha

6mt swapped..smart
I still like the seats/dated interior in the cl over just about any subaru, just as fast, and looks better. Not to mention everyone and their grandmother owns one

AWD > FWD
A legacy with a few STi goodies is a good high 12 sec car. Plus, the older you get, the more 4dr luxury cars (not WRX, but legacy) seem to really grow on you when it comes to style. It's weird.

I've always wanted an STi, myself...I agree...next car will be either RWD or AWD for sure...and have a little more go power. I've been checkin out the new mustang 5.0...never been a huge fan, but there's something about that new one...knowing the engine is rolling off the lot with over 400HP and the new hid projector lights...so aggressive looking.

if we talk about Subaru let me show you something
Forester XT 5spd (STI replica)
WRX Wagon 04-05 or 06-07
Legacy GT Spec B 6spd
i'd take wrx over the STI because STI is so overpriced and insurance is rated higher too... with few simple mods you can get pretty much same performance only exception is 6 speed tranny which is bulletproof

I dont know how much money you have to spend but s2k is mostlikely underpowered and NSX is overpriced 20-25k for early 90's thats no go but for each his own. For the money i think Subaru is the best choice. Its practical, reliable, awd, fun to drive, cheap to mod. My next car im pretty sure will be subaru WRX wagon or legacy gt/wagon gt/spec B

With Honda's current direction, the NSX and S2K will most likely become high-dollar collectibles, especially if well cared for.
$25k is nothing on an NSX if you manage to sell it for about $5k less in five years, or maybe even more.

While an S2k and NSX may not be exactly practical, they sure as hell are fun to drive and reliable. Thats the reason you see so many early NSXs with over 100k miles still on the road. NSXs hold their value very well. An 02-05 model still sells in the $50-60k range and they invoiced for $79k new. There are few cars out there that will hold ~75% of their value after 6 or more years.
Subarus are fun and all, but they are heavy (Legacy SpecB weighs more then the CL 6MT). Theyre quick from a dig (awd, of course) but dont pick up as well from a roll. Gas mileage also sucks.

and i love the legacy, i don't like the sti much. too much of a kid's car really. the LGT has a nice interior.... i just looked up prices for them, pretty cheap actually. the forester is pretty hot too. i rather get a element, pilot, or a FJ cruiser and straight pipe it. boxy SUV's are so sexy

LGT unlimited is still lighter than 2009 sti. But its awd its always heavier than rwd or fwd. With 2-3k you can double the power only problem is when its 5 speed that doesnt like 300whp. But 07-08 spec b has sti's 6 speed. I agree honda will be always soft spot for me and i will always miss vtec but sometimes you have to try something else to appreciate what you have/had.

I recently sold my cl for an 08 accord coupe navi v6 hfp...i really only sold it out of necessity tho... went through 2 trannys in a yr and a half...2 trannys in 14,000 miles!!! Bs..sold it for $6800... I like the legacy gt.. That car was only a handful of cars that actually blew my cls doors off...i was so shocked when i ran him...and its a 4 banger!!!
The subarus are fast..also the sti is ridiculously fast but i think its ugly... If you got 25k to spend get a 2008 335i coupe...love that car

Friend has a 00 tl with a types s and 6spd swap ( and don't really know how to race a MT). He has CM stage 1 clutch kit, ice box, headers, axle back exhaust and raced my friends 07 wrx. He had exhaust manifold, up pipe, down pipe, no cat, full exhaust, intake, short shifter. From a difg, the wrx had the advantage but once at a roll the TL just started pulling away. But it the tl had some stickier tires I'm sure that the race from a dig would be more interesting as he looses traction easily.
The subaru has more parts avaiable but a 6spd and type s swapped tl is a complete sleeper. And seeing the other ppl face when a luxury sedan pulls on a modded subaru is priceless

an asshole from florida
while the cl is a nice car it has a really low ceiling as far as mods are concerned. you definately have done a ton with this car.
Good luck with whatever car you get and if you decide to keep the CL even better
