Me VS BMW

It is my friends i think 525i BMW, I know it is a 5 series. we raced about 5 times on the way to get some pizza. I would pull on him to about 1 car length through 1st and 2nd, when i hit 3rd he would pull on me by about 1/2 car length.

So i won whenever we didnt hit 3rd
But when we hit 3rd it was over for me

Yeah bro he must have a different 5 series, that 525 is a turtle. You should of smoked the hell out of him in 3rd gear. That sounds like a 530i that should be a closer race for you.

It's definitely gotta be a 540i, the 525, 528, and 530's are all underpowered dogs...

Especially with your mods, you should be in the low 14's, which is on par with a newer 540 auto/ 6spd...

This must be a joke. 525is are dogs...to 60 AND on the highway. Hell, a 325, same engine - a lot less weight, is a dog!

It must have been a at least 528 or 530. (Same engine as 330i/ci) I've owned a CL-S w/ I/H and now a 540i. The 540i is clearly faster than the modded CL-S in any type of race from 0-155 mph, with the lead increasing as the race goes on.

540 is the only competition for the CLS!! and if it beats a Ac its not gonna be that significant

Well, I've owned both cars. CLS was modded. Stock for stock, a 5 mph trap speed difference is pretty significant to me. CL-S is nice, but once rolling, it will see nothing but taillights.

On the highway the CL-S is closer to the 530. Even a 328i gave my CL-S a decent run on the highway. You need to stop looking at hp, and start looking at the times.

My 98 Jetta VR6 will out run a 525 or 528 any day. My CL-S will kill my Jetta any day of the week.

so what kind of 5 series was it? this thread is worthless if we dont know what car you were racing. the 5 series comes with 3 engine choices, 1 of which is faster than 99% of NA CLS!

A 328i usually runs low 15s to high 14s. Really good drivers can get them into the mid 14.

http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-328i-Timeslip-5928.html

I've seen a lot of CL-S people run those times.

A 540i mostly runs 14s flat (a few 13s) and traps around 102.

Now, show me an N/A 3.2 CLs that puts down this power. These are 540i 6 speeds with just an CAI. Last time I checked 20-30 whp less (what most 6 speeds put down with bolt ons) made a huge difference.

I doubt it was a 525i. Those cars are too slow. A 528 wouldn't stand a chance either.
