MDX tops in NHTSA 5 MPH crash test.
MDX is the best performer: Among the seven vehicles the Institute tested, "the Acura MDX has the best bumper systems. In fact, it has the best bumpers of any midsize SUV the Institute has ever tested," Lund points out. After the rear-into-pole and to-angle-barrier tests, the MDX's bumper reinforcement bar and plastic cover had to be replaced and there was some additional cosmetic refinishing.

I can vouch for Acura's good bumper design. My old CL ('97 3.0 Premium) got rear-ended by a minivan at about 10 mph. All I needed was a scratch fixed and bumper repainted.
