i'd get the tsx instead...looks almost as good as this, acura/honda reliability and nameplate which means better resale value, and there will be a freat aftermarket 4 the tsx as well since its based on the jdM accord...also, the jdm accord is japanese COY 4 2003

why cant you guys appreciate anything?
it does not have to always come down to "our cars our better" (which is subjective to say the least)
that mazda is a PHAT car... looks hot... trend setting... bit groundbreaking... especially price wise.
not only that... but soon you will see it with AWD and twin turbo. sexxxxxxy
a very nice car indeed.

They drive nice...I drove one a few days ago, when I was pissed and wanted to sell my TL-S. The HVAC and radio and all that is pretty cool, and they get more control from the sterring whell than we do. In the sport package, the electroluminescent guages are badass. And they have TONS of trunk space, its embarassing when you compare it with how much we have. Rear legroom is nice too.

The Mazda6 is a NICE CAR... and some very serious competition to the TL-P (and to the TL-S once the turbo comes out).
The full loaded model has everything you can imagine and an awesome GFX package..

Dress the WRX in this package and we'll all sell tomorrow! Why does the WRX have to look dopey?! Before you flame me ... you and I both love its incredible performance, but that's why we stick up for its oddball looks. If it drove like a Civic HX, we'd rail on it. On the other side of the coin, Mazda nailed the styling, but it just needs some bigger ballz. It's a marriage made in car heaven! Rock on.

the sportier looking ones with the sculpted sills will give it away

is it simply because of the Mazda nameplate? or the 6 moniker?
there is no reason in the world this car is only worth 16k. if that was the case the CL should be worth no more then 20k itself.

I agree that this is a sweet car, especially for the money. I've been saying this all along. And, it looks great in person.
The only thing I would do to it is slap on some better rubber and lower it. If you notice, unlike our NON-SPORTS CARS, it even has 7" wide rims so you can put some decent rubber on them! And, it doesn't weigh nearly as much as our boats.
To address a few comments here:
1. If you wouldn't pay more than 16,000 dollars for this car you are crazy. I'm sure you could walk out with one fully loaded for 23K.
2. Acura re-sale value? Hah. That's a good laugh. It took me forever just to catch up my payments to the nosedive the CL's resale value took. About two years ago my sister bought a used 1998 2.3CL for about 17K and now that is about what many of our 2001 CLs are worth! Pathetic. After this debacle I doubt I will ever buy a new car again unless it is in the 23K range of the 6.
It really is sad what a pathetic attempt at "Sport" the Type S cars are!

I think that car looks awsome!!! Mazda has definately removed its head from its derrier with this car! I loved it since we started seeing spy shots.
soopa, i have to say...i agree with all your posts today!
We are definately living in a golden era of motoring. So many nice cars. I can't belive what is available today in every price category. I don't think people appreciate the amount of nice vehicles, the quality of vehicles, and the power available in every category.

NO nO, i guess i should have clarified
what i meant was hondas generally have a higher resale value than other cars in their class, that may not be the case w/the CL, but generally it holds true, esp. if a care is very popular (i.e. mdx, tl, accord etc.)
The mazda 6 is a really sweet automobile, but I'd wait to see how reliable it is, esp. the engine...also if i had to choose b/w this and the tsx, i'd pick the one w/the most aftermarket potential (performance and looks) ...also, unlike the tl/cl, the tsx will be built in japan, which in my mind, makes a noticeable difference in build quality...but that turbo v6 awd mazda is sweet and I hope that does come through

what a hot fucking car...
when the turbo comes out, that car will eat any CL-S or TL-S and be SO much better looking.
can't wait to see it in person!

Car looks great. Especially like the front end and headlight assembly. The new Accords' front end fell off the S2000, and seems that the rear fell off a M-B (and got Fed up on the way). Agree w/ other posts, put a turbo on the 6 and you have some serious bang/buck. Now if it only had 2 doors...

i have yet to see a VALID negative comment.
your all hanging on the Mazda nameplate and their association with Ford.
I guess that means Jaguars, Land Rovers, and Aston Martins are shit too.
Grow up.

Quoted from the Mazda6 forums!
Let me just tell you that there is little Ford in Mazda6. Very little, since there's none. True is that the engine block is Duratec, but the rest of it is designed and fitted by Mazda. So you should really consider it a Mazda engine - I mean after all, how much of an engine's reliability comes down to the block itself?
The only other connections to Ford are a) Ford owns 33 percent of Mazda and b) It's built for NA by the plant at Flat Rock that is a joint venture with Ford. However, there were like a thousand Mazda tech's from Japan at that plant setting up production earlier this year, and some of them are still there to make sure things go as they are meant to go.
This makes it no more American than the CL!
