Saw it at the San Diego auto show. It looks good. What's with all the Japanese designers that copy each other though? Now everyone including Mazda, Toyota, and Honda have the pointy front grill w/ the ugly wide and flat 1999 Camry rear lights. Can't they just not copy each other?

I don't like it.
First off, the 3.0 L is well behind it's time. It appears to be the same 200 hp V6 in the Taurus, just with a few more ponies, and less torque, which arrives at a rather late 5000 rpm. My impression from the engine specs is this car can go when it's pushed, but otherwise it's not as smooth going as it's competitors. I say it's behind it's time because back in 2000 Nissan was making a much better 3.0 L V6, and now, before the 6 hits the streets, it's already badly outdone by the new Accord's V6. Plus the 6 has a 4 speed auto up to the Accord's 5 speed.
There are some pros to the car though. It's small and light, a big difference from it's competitors. It also has a good suspension system, but I question if it's as good as the redesigned Accord's. The 5 speed manual is definitely a hand up on the auto-only V6 Accord sedan. It has DOHC compared to the Accord's SOHC. Mazda typically does well in the braking department, and the Accord's brakes are atrocious.
I could go on, but the bottom line is this car has good qualities and will fit some people's bill perfectly. However, it is not as refined as the Accord and doesn't hold Honda's reputation for solid engines and excellent reliability.

Ford owns mazda, hence the car is made by ford as is volvo, jaguar, & landrover... If not directly made by ford, then it is run by ford which is bad enough.
