Magnusson Cum law

Anyone know what the warranty is for stock struts in the CL(s)??

If you lower your ride with springs and the struts blow out, is that covered under warranty? i know that magnusson cum law or whatever states unless the manufacturer of the car can prove the aftermarket product is the cause of the part failure, the part should be under full warranty.

But the comptech progessive springs and the stock struts don't work together quite right. I think the dealer will say "look, you got lowering springs and stock struts...it is too much stress on the struts. They wear out fast."

Anyone know if this will be a problem when your struts are due in for replacement?

Basically if they can prove that the modified part caused the failed stock part, then you cannot claim any warranty for that part. If they cannot prove it, then they have to give you your warranty.

Isn't it magnusson moss??

So imagine this... Acura denies your claim saying that the modifications caused the damage. You say they didn’t. Even if you're right and they're wrong you're only option is to hire a lawyer and sue them. Meanwhile your car is laid up or you have to pay for the repair out of pocket. It could take months to resolve the issue. Sure, if you win you'll get the money you had to lay out back and Acura has to pay your legal fees. But Acura can afford the time and expense of a protracted legal battle better than the average car owner. Waving a copy of Magnusson at them doesn't mean they have to agree with your interpretation of it. Just something to think about.

Put the stock springs back on and take it to the dealer.

If you lowered the car there is no way in hell they will warranty the shocks. Trust me on this one.
