Low Fuel efficiency Question!!
Hi AZ people~
I recently got a 45k miles checkup and
replaced tranny and brake oils as well as
engine coolant. The dealer recommened that
change air cleaner but i refuseed to do that.
With this job, I also had a super deluxe detail
service which include wash and wax exterior, polish exterior
,steam clean engine, dress up interior and wheels etc.
After i done this job, my cls's fuel milage is over 40miles less than
before. I usually drive 220miles for filled tank.( I enjoyed driving with
in high rpm, city only). But these days, I got between 180 and 190 miles
for filled one even i maintained rpms range 2000~3000.
Does anybody know what this problem seems like??
Thanks!!!!!!!!

I wanna know too, I took mine in for a 45k mile service... In the month since, I've gone from an average of 260 miles per tank to 200 miles per tank.
I don't think the dealer *really* has anything to do with it... although.

Actaully I was about to make a thread about this. I changed my CLS's STOCK air filter & I've actually some how got less MPG than I did before. I mean by the time I've reached half a tank I'm olny done 115 miles. It used to do 145. What the hell is going on? I mean changing you air filter is supossed to give you better gas mileage.

You guys are going to piss off ShawnS.
Do not check you mileage by the needle being at half. Full up your tank til the pump stops (do not over fill), reset the counter, drive until you need to fill up again and then do the math. That's a lot more accurate. Get into the habit of doing that as often as possible.

I guess so many people still do the “gallons per tank” method because they haven’t advanced to 2nd grade math yet.
