I think you are missing the point we are trying to make. The car is salvaged, therefore, no we dont think you made a good deal. It doesnt matter that the car is just missing a light, its salvaged......S-A-L-V-A-G-E-D.

Bad deal...
1. I don't think you can insure it with full coverage now that it's "salvaged".
2. Even if you paid $9k-$10k for it, how much money did it take to "bring it back" per say?
3. $9k was too much IMO. (as salvaged titled cars -unless it's a classic- aren't even worth half of what one in excellent condition is worth). Even IF it was a classic, it would still be worth less but it wouldn't be quite as bad.
Where's all the parts?
Just the front end alone is missing nearly $1,000 in parts without even getting into the interior.
And further more, I can't read half of the posts in this thread.

Is it missing the door panels too? I would think it would be more then $800 in parts. Salvage cars are generally totaled out meaning it would cost more then 75% of the car's value to repair.
Basically, if the cost of repairs exceeds the car's value, the insurance company will declare your car totaled and give you a cash settlement rather than pay for the repairs. Is there damage to the right door / right rear quarter panel?

i think for 9.5k you got an excellent deal if you are not planning to sell the car but rather drive it to death. id glady buy a salvage car for such a low price as long as it had no frame nor flood damage

If I were selling, that'a what I'd want for mine... (trade in is like 13.5-14.5).

Yeah, the new TL isn't bad value wise...
We own a coupe... a discontinued coupe... and it's a discontinued coupe with a manual transmission... Most buyers are looking for sedans with auto trannies...
I'm willing to bet that 6spds with below average mileage (under 12k miles per year) will still command a 13-15K price in 3-4 years... I'm thinking it's hit bottom for the 6spds at least... with the autos, there's always the transmission issue (especially over 100K miles) that will effect value.
As Steve has pointed out, it's messed up when an RSX with similar mileage/condition is selling for the same or in most cases more then a CLS. I think as the market expands to the younger crowd (like some of our newest members), the price disparity between the cls and rsx will reverse... 6spd coupes always sell well with the younger crowd :killer:
As much as I'd love a new car, I just can't justify getting rid of perfectly great 6spd. Espeically with the value I'd get in trade... I might as well drive it and take the 12k it would cost me to get into a mustang (or 20K to get into a G35, or 30K to get into a 335) and invest it or blow it on a fun weekend car...
I just can't see getting rid of my 6spd for 15K. It's worth more than that to me.
