Look What I Got In The Mail!!!

For full size pics, click here.

Look at these welds. beautiful!

And I installed this in a hurry.

The IceBox went in pretty easily. the instuctions are vauge. some things in the instructions weren't on my car, like the ground wire I was supposed to move. other than that, smooth. except I got home from work late, and it was fucken dark outside.
But after it was done. what a difference! I drove around a while and then pulled away hard from a stoplight. I knew it would smoke the tires in first, so I just rolled it on and when it hit Vtec...awesome. shifted hard to second and it must have chirped four or five times. Sounded a little louder, but not really untill Vtec range. cant wait to install the headers
As for that, i'm waiting on my Helms manual and Acura exhaust gasket that is on its way. Is it a crush gasket? or a normal gasket? do I really need to use a new one, or will it be okay?
Thanks guys!

Cool, where'd you get the Helms manual from? I've not been able to find one for any CL.

Cool. I got 'em both and I think they're greaaaaaat!

The Comptech Icebox directions were wrong in a couple spots. I also didn't have the grounding loom where they said I would, and if I recall one picture or description has you mount the bracket upside down. Oh well...good product though.

I didn't do the header install myself, but I thought that you re-use the Acura gaskets between the collectors and the engine block, and that Comptech provides a crush washer/gasket type thing betweent the collectors and the B pipe.

I think that the Helm manual was the best aftermarket purchase I've made for this car. It answers numerous questions succinctly and clearly.

What are those pictures of?

:P

congrats, enjoy.

And Yes the gasket that goe between the headers-downpipe and the header collector and cat come with the kit and bolts.

Helms...http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_...L94P990G4N85W5

P.S. I think a 2nd grader with a crayon can give better instructions then the C/T ones... but that is just my .02

Its alright man. I probably would have purchased something cheaper a long time ago, but I've been saving for this a long time. don't have much of a choice anyway.

bullaculla, you should get new exhuast manifold gaskets. I have comptech headers installed with the old gaskets between the headers and the head, now I have slight exhaust noise at startup, when the engine warms up the sound goes away. There's a crush gasket between the j pipe to headers and catalytic converter, and a regular embossed gasket between the heads and headers. Have fun over there in paradise!!!

Here is how I measured them. the driver side is 18" and the pass side is 17-7/8" but, the holes are big enough that it can pivot and add or subtract 1/8" on both sides. I measured them with the flanges squared up.

driver side.

passenger side. not too clear, but its 17 7/8"

hope this helps!

BTW, I've changed my mind. I don't have the time it takes to install these properly. I'm taking my car to acura on friday. I drove my car onto the ramps, and the bolts to the cat were very rusty. my parking lot is underground and about 3 blocks from the beach. When its high tide, my parking lot fills up with an inch of salt water! I always shoot down the bottom of my car when I wash, i had no idea things were corroding that bad already.

Might I suggest the following while at Sears:

Compressor

Impact Wrench

And this also at a automotive parts store (seriously, this will loosen the bolts/nuts):

Correct me if I am wrong, but in both of these pictures the 18 Inch mark is outside of the header flange mating surface:
