At least in other cities you have options, like taking the subway instead. In Atlanta, you are simply screwed with how spread out this city is.

Atlanta and Houston are pretty similar, except that Houston is flat and slightly more humid (never thought that was possible).

Commutes from where? Where did they start to get these times?

New York City 38 minutes
Unless your an express bus, or car pool, it always took me about an hour to get into lower Manhattan from Staten island.

I don't know who they polled for this but it definitely wasn't me...my commute by car is 1hr 30 mins (with normal traffic conditions) and by train is 2 hrs since 9/11 (it was 1 hr 15 mins prior.) By the way, my commute is from Westchester, NY to Jersey City, NJ.

Well, it's abviously some sort of average, so for every guy like you with an hour and a half commute, there's someone that walks 5 minutes to work.

:sqnteek: Umm, yeah, who the heck are these people with sub-half hour NYC commutes?!

I can practically throw a coin out my window in Jersey and it'll land in Manhattan. My daily commute is 2 miles in distance, but about 30~40 minutes in duration. (And I consider myself lucky since I bypass the real traffic on the bridges and tunnels by taking a ferry...)

LA and the Bay Area have the No.1 and 2 worst traffic, respectively. That's all that needs to be said. Most people who work in silicon valley live about 1 hour away. The ones that commute into SF use BART or come from Marin ($$) and the peninsula. They probably don't mention that once you hit within 2 miles of downtown SF...it is gridlock and takes 20 minutes to get to your parking garage and then you have to walk another 10 minutes.

Holy Cow, what road(s) does she use. I do I-85, Beaver Ruin, Holcombe Bridge and they don't suck as bad as 10 miles in an hour.

Chrisbert,

Holcombe Bridge road is easy, for now. Construction and growth will ruin that in another 3 years. My Mom works up that way, so whenI visit, I see the shit starting to pile up. Nice area though, lik eit.

LA has the worst fucking traffic I have seen - PERIOD!!!

SF Bay area, ain't much better, but they do have Mass Transit out to the suburbs.

NYC has got Mass Transit, LA has a joke!

I traveled from Culver City to Ontario - easy 42 miles to the satellite center and it takes 2.5 - 4 hours depending on the day, Friday being the worse day due to people trying to get the hell outta town. The 60, 210, 10 freeways are all backed up for miles and they run parallel to each other going West. Made me move to Ontario, just 2 exits away from work off the 10 freeway, can you believe 25 minutes to get to work!!!!!!!! Jogging or Riding my bike got me there faster!

Back here in DC, I have Mass Transit, so my commute is a smooth 22 minutes from doorstep to office desk. If I drive, its a good 45 minutes to go 7.3 miles - Go Figure???

I drove 40miles each way (around 45-50minutes each way) to classes four days a week for the last three semesters of college. The last two were in the CLS. My 13-month-old CLS has 30k on it. :P

if I commute from home to Irvine (northern LA to Orange County or Southern LA) during the day, it has been at most 3.5 hours for 75 miles! MY ASS WAS HURTING after that.

At night, which I use to do very often from midnight, it takes me less than an hour easily along the same route

Riverside has no reason to be on that commute list, wtf?
That's just damn sad.
