Llumar Platinum PLus Tint Question

Let me start by saying that I have read EVERY post that had a subject with the word "tint" in it since the beginning of this year.

I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted soon and the shop that my Honda Dealership recommended carries Llumar film. They have a Platinum Plus which is supposed to be mirror like. The film is warrentied for life and they are quoting me $160 which is kinda high but I don't mind.

They also have a Titanium Mettalic but I can't remember the exact name.

My question is Llumar consided a "Good" film? They have the tint availabe in 50% 35% 18% and 5% They will only warrenty the film if it is legal which means I have to go 50% on the front window, 35% on the back window and 18% on the rear window. Is their film of high enough quality that I should just go 35% all the way around so it doesn't look cheesy having it fade from dark to light and give up my warrenty for the front windows? (Which are the ones I roll up and down the most)

Thanks for you help!

LLumar, I was told is the best film. I have 35 up front and 18 in back. At the place I went to they didnt have a 5% otherwise i would have gotten that for the back. $160 is an awesome price. I paid $290 in Alberquerque NM. Looks very good with mettallic semi mirror. You really can't tell the front is tinted less than the back.

TypeR, thanks a bunch for the pics.

Do you guys have trouble seeing out the back window at night? I'm trying to decide if I should go 18% on the rear or 35%

My car is white so I really didn't want to go with the typical black tint film.

Have you been able to tell if the car stays cooler in the summer with the windows tinted?

If you end up getting the tints, see if you can post a photo, I have a white car and I'd like to see what it looks like. I'm interested in the metallic look. I think it will look good, my wife thinks otherwise...

Will do! I already have pictures of my car without tint, so I'll be sure to take pictures if/when I get my windows tinted. I'm hoping to have it done this weekend.

I have this tint: 35% on the sides 18% on the back. So far the heat rejection on 95+ days has surpassed what I expected. AC on auto keeps the car cool when set at 75 without the fan blasting on high. (read quiet) good luck

one other note: I didn't have the rear window mesh covered with tint. looks funny thru the rearview mirror. just kinda bugs me

Have you had any problems seeing out the rear window with the 18% tint? Also how would you describe the way the tint looks from the outside? Any pics?

I used to tint windows here in NY... Llumar is the best.. out performs 3M by a landslide... The lifetime warranties are only given with High performance films such as the platinum... I recommend 38% CENTAUR on a black interior and 35% charcoal High performance on Parchment interiors, if its available at your place...

By the way.. your tint should never ever fade... And $160.00 is CHEAP compared to our prices here !!!

Hey is that place in Lafayette? If so I think its the same one I went to. I think its acadiana solar film or something like that. If so that's where I had my prelude and my integra done. They did good jobs on both. I had the plat plus...I think it was 18,18,18 on the integ because the seats were tan. Then on the lude it was 35 all the way cuz the seats were black. You car will look darker if the seats are dark and as far as seeing at night its harder with the tint but not impossible.

My interior is Tan/Beige.

That is nice to hear that Llumar is good quality and that $160 is a good price.

NOLACLS,
Yea, Acadiana Solar Film is the place, but they have two stores... one off the Throughway, and one near Ambassador. I live closer to Ambassador so I'll probably go to that one.

So if I have a light interior should I think about going 18% all the way around instead of 35%?

Also if you have any pics of the Platinum Plus tint please post them or email them to me with what your % tint is.

Thanks a bunch for the help and info everyone!!!

No problems seeing out. I have the charcoal tint, looks better (to me) on my red with parchment interior. You can see somewhat of the insides of the car. With LLumar you get a higher heat rejection which is all I care about. Sorry no pictures. Texas Law is 35% on the sides, anything on the back. I did this because I didn't want to giveout any reasons to be pulled over. payed $150 here in the Dallas area.
