a little unrelated to CL but Re: Playstation 2

i noticed that whenever i use the PS2 as a DVD player, i really have to crank the volume up A LOT! does anyone else notice this? is there anyway to fix this? it's not a major problem, but whenever, i forget to lower the volume back before i change from video input to TV, i get a sudden blast of whatever and i scares the crap out of me. heh.

thanks.

This is not uncommon. Many home theatre recievers will allow you to even out the relative volumes of your different sources. Without that, really the only thing you can do is reduce volume before you switch from DVD.

The DVD spec actually requires a lower line level out than most vcrs, tv, cd players have which results in you having to crank up the volume. It feels weird to have to turn your amp or receiver half way up when watching DVD's but in reality it is going to give you cleaner sound. Anyhow, its normal... I have 3 DVD players (ps2, standalone dvd player, and DVD-ROM) and they ALL have really low audio output.
