A little pothole love....

Just a visual reminder of what hitting a pothole at 70mph can do. This was a pothole on the highway of all places. Hit it dead on.
Tire was punctured in 2 places and rim was toast.
Went home to St. Louis for a quick visit and got a little something extra.

Ouch. Konig isn't known for it's quality, although I doubt many wheels would survive s pothole @70 mph.

I bet you can have that fixed. Contact www.wheelcollision.com They can amazing things. Check out their site.

Got a couple of quotes for $210 and one for $180. Either way that is too close to how much a new wheel costs.

Highways and city streets alike are dangerous places. I had a 2001 CLS where I hit one pothole with 15k mi on my tires. and another pothole with 30k mi on my tires. Both times a tire got a ruptured sidewall with a bubble about the size of a tennis ball. Cost me $95 and $150 for tire replacement, respectfully. And then yesterday, on my 2003 CLS with only 1900 mi. on my tires, got a puncture on a tire which couldn't be repaired cause it was near the sidewall. So I had to replace it. Cost me $116.

I feel your pain

Ouchie
I just went and got my new rim mounted and balanced on the SO3 today..

NSXNEXT is right, those people are good, but it is not worth the cost to fix it.. They ship their shit over to the west coast.. But I would have to say, if anyone is looking for factory OEM rims they should call them.. Nice prices.. I think 200 for a brand new OEM shipped to your door.. I spoke with them over 6 months ago..

Can't beat the damn potholes around here in MA/NH. There are signs on the highway displaying a number to call from cellphones to report potholes. How messed up is that?!?

I lost a tire, but not a rim, in January to a freakin' sinkhole on I-93!

BTW, that was a nice rim!

At least you guys have a number you can call. Nobody actually cares about potholes in the Michigan government.

I feel your pain. I am looking at my replacement rims as we speak and waiting for the store to open tomorrow so I can replace the 2 busted Konig rims I got from an angry pothole.

A few years ago on the ski slopes, it was "Attack of the killer Trees"

This year it's "Attack of the rim bustin' potholes!"

I have pics poste don an earlier thread. Do a search to find them!

Isn't there a warranty if your tire bubbles on the side wall within so many miles? Won't the tire company replace them for you?

There is a place here is Fort Lauderdale that does EXCELENT work on rims. I was HD pics of rims that made ur FKed up one look like an HRE. And they brought it back to origional condidtion. They also have a web site www.supramags.com. If there is no place in ur area I can work with u. Hit me up EM or PM.
