Link to 18" vs 17" wheel site (Sport Compact Car)

Thanks to AChance, I received an email with the link to the "Sport Compact Car" site. They have the January 2001 issue on line *with* the full article, "Power, Weight, Grip..." The article is about which matters most. They test the accel. times of cars with 16", 17", and 18" wheels *AND* measure the effect of wheel size/weight and size.

They also measure how static weight -- like the number of people in the car -- influences performance.

A big thanks to AChance -- he deserves the credit for finding this out!

here is the link:

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com

Click on "this month". When you get the new page, you will see a picture of the FEB 2001 issue, with a "Past Issues" below it.
Then select January 2001.
Then select "Power, Weight, Grip! Which Matters Most?"

The article tried to keep things equal (Same make tires, wheels, etc in 16, 17, 18 inch sizes). I think someone can get an 18" wheel that is really light and strong that will outperform the 17s. However, the 18" wheels better be light *and* seem to be expensive for the really cool light ones.

(I guess I going to have to e-mail all the vendors and ask them if they will add rotation inertia specs -- NOT)
