Leasing Info.-need to read!

To all who do the lease thing under
American Honda Finance Corp. "AHFC"
and plan to lease a new CL-s,

If you plan to turn in your old lease car early (like 5 months or so) and have the reminder of the lease paid off by Acura, Inform the dealer and get it in writing that you will not take responsibility for the old car and any extra costs after the deal is signed for the new car.
Fact: AHFC hires out an inspection company called ITS and finds $$$ problems in which AHFC charges you for at then end of the lease by contract. The dealer knows this and will make the new contract read "to only pay off the reminder of the payments" and they don't check off the little box reading "trade-in". Those bastards won this time!! But hope I can save others.

So just be aware, by lease contract under AHFC, you are responsible for things found by this ITS inspection.

I thought it was well known that when you turn in your lease car (early or otherwise) that an inspection of the car is going to be made and that you're going to get charged for anything that your lease contract stipulates as "excessive wear and tear" and any damage the car may have suffered.

Not to flame -- but you DID read your lease contract before you signed it, right?

That is standard procedure for leased cars. I had to take my Maxima for an inspection when I turned it in. They attempted to charge me $1200 for tires, excess wear and tear and milegae. I paid the mileage and disputed the tires and excess wear and tear. The company called me and we negotiated a deal that was satisfactory to bnoth of us. It is all detailed in your lease agreement.

As long as you take good care of your car you shouldn't have a problem. I just returned a four year old leased M-B and a three year old Isuzu Rodeo and wasn't charged a thing. Both GECAL and M-B use ITS but the inspection is optional. You can also leave the car at a dealer who will inspect it and provide you with an inspection report. MB, GECAL, and AHFC all provided me with a description of what they look for at lease end as part of an information package I received in the mail shortly after taking delivery. There was nothing unreasonable in any of their return requirements.

Just had my 98 CL inspected and was told I owed them nothing. The dealer is going to luv me, I am bringing it back with 26,000 miles and in mint condition. Was going to buy it but decided to get a CL-S instead.I think that was the right decision.

The nice folks at AHFC are waiving my security fee and the first months lease payment too.

Peace, LTK
