Koni Yellows or Tokico Illumina's Opinions
Koni yellows or Tokico Illumina's ?
I really want the KYB AGX cause the adjustable dial is on the bottom where its really easy to change.
Well heres my requirements :
Currently I have stock shocks with comptech springs ( 43k) miles on stock shocks plus comptech sways which kills my ride but it handles great. Now I'm getting 19's put on in less than 1 week and I just drove my friends stock 01 TypeS and it was so smooth, yes it doesn't handle as good but I don't plan on drivnig all crazy anymore esp since I got the rims I can't bend.
Most likely Im going to set them to the softest setting so I can get my ride quality back.
I know the fronts are easy to adjust but the rears are a pain. I also remember someone saying they cut some part in the trunk or rear or something so they could easily adjust the rear shocks.
Can someone shed some light here?
Also any one running the most soft setting on the Konis or Illunia's?
Majority is mostly using Koni's but is it that much better than the Tokicos if im not going to push my car and go auto crossing etc...

Sweet Joe. I see you're the first to get the kumho MX's. Please let me know how they are--I was planning on getting them for my next set. They ranked very highly when compared tot he Michelin Pilots (and they'll probably last a lot longer too).
As for the shocks, if you put the konis on their softest setting they will probably be just a bit firmer than stock. Right now mine are set over half-way firm and sometimes I wish they were even firmer yet.

Hmm
There was previous talk about someone drilling a whole in the rear deck so they were able to adjust them without pulling out the rear seats. Ask Chikai.

IMO - I'd go with the Koni's. I've heard nothing but good reviews about them. I thought you already had your Axis wheels?

i got tokico illuminas on the softest setting, they ride firmer than stock yet handling is sweet. if you're gonna spend more then go for tein ss, really worth the money, otherwise the illuminas are just fine.

Joe, those rims are going to look tight!
Let's meet up sometime so I can check'em out!
Also, definitely post a review of the MX's. My toyo's are coming close to needing to be replaced.

The last time I checked, the tops of the two struts actually poke into the plastic of the speaker grill.

That depends on which ones you get. My Koni Sport (yellow ones) are not adjustable with the spring height. Only the stiffness is adjustable.

reason why I don't want to go w/ TEINS is cause its more LOOT!!! Shit, im already planning on getting new 4 piston brakes (1500 bucks) then my 45k maint is coming up ( 450 ) and just to install the shocks its gonna be another (300), plus once I don't tink i'll change the stock hieght too much. actually I like how the comptechs sit.

TypeR, I haven't changed the settings yet, but are you saying that by stiffening it, I can actually lower the ride height of the car also??
How much lower with comptech springs?

I have comptech springs with Koni Yellows'... I like it. I bought them not even knowing that you could lower car more with them and thank god you could, because after I got my new wheels with the comptechs "18's" my car still looked high! After lowering with the Konis it sits Perfect! I would go with konis after reading a million reviews of both the Konis and Tokicos I could not find anyone with anything bad to say about the Konis... I cant say the same for the tokicos....

so getting the koni yellows would make the car have height adjust and stiffness adjust, i wish i knew this before buying my tokico's. btw, i am happy with the tokico's. i think they ride well compared to some other setups ive seen. handling can be through the roof but it takes just the right setting.
now someone please point me in the direction to these koni's that are adjustable. i am looking for a 1.25 inch drop. will the koni's do this and if they do, what model do i have to get?

Which ever you choose, please let me know where you get it done and the cost. I called a couple places and it was close to $2,000 for the Tokico's. I'm in nova, too.

Cool...let me know. See I am waiting for the stock ones to go then I will get the yellows but I kinda like the hight I am at now. Dont get me wrong I would go lower but its just not good to do here. The streets suck so if i go lower I will not be able to enjoy the power of the CL because i will bottom out all the time I also dont want to have to fool with the cambers and stuff like that.

well i have comptech springs and koni yellows and don't have any camber issues at all. the roads suck here too, i was thinking of getting 19's to replace my 18's, but I don't know how practical it is
