Koni install pix and rear deck extensions via Jens
my Koni's only had one perch setting
using spare trunk springs, Jens creates the extensions for the rear Koni's...
nice aim!!! directly on the A/T fluid quarts
once cut to desired length, Jens takes one side and cuts down the middle so the tab at the tip of the Koni fits snugly in place...
now to finalize the extension...copy the tip of the Koni by shaving down the sides and filing so the white Koni adjustable knob will fit in place...
once the extension has been shaped accordingly, u need to fasten it firmly to the tip of the shock...Jens slices a slot and wraps high strength wire around both the extension and the tip of the shock...he uses a special tool to wrap the wire nice and tight so there's little chance the extension will break away...
and there u have it
props to PAA once again for their expert service and support...i also had my 30K service performed...everyone was their usual nice and curteous and fun to hang out with...car feels great all around, and my passion has been renewed, especially with the Koni's...as far as autox goes, i did great...came in 4th in my class and beat my arch rival Zeroryde in his tricked out RSX-S by 0.1 im hoping to get video one of the RSX guys took of me soon...i found that the combo Koni's and tire pressure to make a considerable difference, depending on the settings for both...so it was so totally worth getting the Koni's!!! thx again go to Wayne, Jens, Pete, Tom, Vinny, and the PAA crew for everything!!!!
my favorite pic!!!

Wow cool! So do you have to cut a hole in the rear shelf or can you squeze the extender between the seat and the shelf? I just put a set of Konis on my car today. They're sweet! Definitly need to make something like this though. Removing the seat sux.

scooter the second perch settings on your koni's are visible in the pictures...PM me if you want me to show you where they are....
Jens i havent done this yet but i have an idea you might concider...instaed of extending the shock adjuster what about drilling a hole through the deck and through the corner of the speaker cover...caping it with fire wall plug( or some other grey plastic plug) when not in use...and extending the koni Knob with some pvc i found at lowe's???

The second perch is about 1/2" to 9/16" under the perch you are on.
If you had bought the Neuspeed ones, they would have had 5 settings.
I have the two setting ones as well. I am on the top perch.
No need to go lower, I already needed camber kits all the way around.
To Jens for going way above and beyond the call of duty!!!!
ENJOY Scooter!!

Scooter,
Looks good, but are you sure Jens wants his “secret design” made so public?
Be sure to write up a full report on the comparisons from Stock/Comptech vs Koni/Comptech.
I’d like to go for a ride in your car next time we meet too.
I’ll probably be following the same upgrade path that you took although I’m gonna wait until my stock shocks are used up.
How much for the labor/parts on the suspension work not counting the 30K service?

costs were basically similar to a spring install
and my apologies for not providing the completed pics...i'll post 'em around 8PM this evening...until then, try and draw a mental pic of about 3 or 4 inches of the extension popping out of the rear deck next to the speaker

Looking very good man...I will be going this rout as well as soon as my stock shocks go out. I will have to have Jen mail me some extensions tho due to me living soooo far away from the beloved PAA I hope I can find a local shop that can hook this up right for me

Need to see pics of what it looks like installed. I've got very wierd pics in my head of where the knob would now be installed. Heck I'm seeing a long shaft going up teh back of the seat, and a white knob sitting right next to the rear speakers. Yea I know, I really need to see more pics.

the knob is transferable, meaning it's mobile, not fastened to the extensions...think of the knob as a utility tool, no different from let's say a pair of pliers where u adjust the stiffness
as far as where specifically it is in relation to the speaker, if yer kneeling on the driver's side rear seat facing the back of the car, the extension sits right next to the right corner of the speaker cover closest to u...if yer kneeling on the passenger side rear seat facing the back of the car, the extension sits next to the left corner of the speaker cover closest to u
there was NO drilling of the seat or speaker cover, ONLY the rear deck itself
hope this helps until tonight

Scooter how does the overall ride feel with the Koni Yellows plus Comptech springs on? I'm wondering if i should do the springs and Koni yellows at once or wait on the shocks.

Thank you for your business Scoot as always .
Yes I have some new safety glasses ,I stepped on my last pair .
I did consider making a different extension for the key itself but went against it as the tiny little adjuster on a Koni might be hard to find as it sits far away from the rear deck .
I had alos looked a t amking a tube arrangement but the problem with that is that the strut moves up and down quite a bit due to the compliance bushings so you would just end up with a larger hole in the rear deck with a cool plug in it that would be bobbing up and down .
Group buy ????? well I have two requests for some extenders now that I am going to try to get done this week .Making the extenders is easy making directions is not ,finding free time seems to be almost impossible .If these two people can work with the directions and the parts then I might consider making more .I would also have to look at the other strut designs out there (i.e. Tein ) as they also have similar adjuster problems.
Overall these adjusters were the easiest solution to a common problem although I am sure there might be more graceful ways to accomplish it .

U know even after seeing the pics of the extender protruding out of the rear deack I still can't seem to emagine how the extender and make it from the shock to the rear deck. I see it as the shock sitting futher forward than the rear deck.
So Scoot, if u could resolve this for me by possibly throwing up a pic of the trunk, and if u have time a pic of the rear seat out .
