K&N Filter

I've been reading various posts about the K&N filter and have a few questions. While it may slightly increase gas mileage does it:

- Make the car sound louder?
- Void any warranty?

Are there any downsides to using this filter? Any possible damage that can be done to the car?

No adverse effects that I'm aware of. It won't make the car any louder than stock, or void the warranty. I've been using these filters for over 10 years on my vehicles, they work great. The added benefit of a lifetime filter will save you money in the long run as well.

Theres no sound difference. Its a good buy.

Well, one area where possible damage could occur is if you over-oil the filter during maintenence, the oil could damamge the MAF electronics. You would have to have it pretty damn damp to do damamge, but I have heard about a few numbskulls who did it.

All that said, assuming you don't put a soaking wet one in your car, the K&N is great.

It helps the car breathe a bit better. I have one on my intake, and I love it...

And theres no way that simply an air filter could void Acuras warranty policies.

I've a K&N filter and was wondering......
when you re-oil the filter, do you spray on both sides or just on the bottom one side??
And how much oil is enough??

From my previous experience you need to oil both sides, but this is of course after washing it with the filter cleaner and some tap water. By the time the filter is ready for you to re-oil it, it become pretty apparent that you need to oil it and get the 'gauze' a pretty red color.

Oil both sides after cleaning, and reverse flushing with tap water (let it dry completly.) The gauze will turn red as you oil it, use common sense as to how much. Enough to cover the media, not saturate!

K&N says that you are only supposed to oil the back side of the filter (side facing the throttle body). oiling both sides sounds wise to me

its impossible to do that with cone filters

hey houston boyz--where are you guys getting your K&N oil???? are all of you getting it locally, or have you found a place to order from. i've been looking for this stuff since i got the CAI...

SilverESS, the kit is 14.95. Maybe a little more or less depends on where you get it. You can get it from any performance shop. Autozone also stock them. I saw it at Sterling McCall toyota the last time I was there. Good luck.
