Just Raced New GTP
On the way home from Blockbuster with my g/f. I am stopped at a light, windows down, two younger kids in a new silver GTP pull up in the next lane look over and kind of laugh a bit and are talking back and foth while looking over at us. I am thinking that must be dads new car they are in over there and figure by the way they lined up next to me just perfect and are acting, they are going for it. I slip it into 1 (gateshifting) Light finally goes green and the dude is on it hard peeling out, I spin pretty hard off the line as well and he has me by 1/2 car. About 45 mph I am now into second good and even things up pulling ahead slightly, by 65 I am almost 1 car ahead, I shut down at about 90, I am ahead close to 2.5 cars and really pulling hard on him. When I let off, he didn't and goes blowing by me. I would have stayed on it but our turn was coming up and this road has cops driving on it all the time. They wouldn't even look over while they were doing their blow by. All in all I was pretty surprised with how good it ran. I couldn't really here any SC whine.

good kill! anyone know the specs on the new GTP?
However from what I've been seeing, the 97-02 models seem to be quicker stock for stock at the track with only 240HP 280TQ.
Good kill. Blowing the launch with a GTP is the worst thing you can do. The gearing won't let you "make it up" as speeds get higher.

First: 2.921
Second: 1.568
Third: 1.000
Fourth: 0.705
I believe the 2004s now have a final drive of 3.29
instead of the 2.93
I may be a little off on the shift rpms. The tranny always has it's own agenda. Also my PCM has been altered for quite a while now. I don't remember exactly what stock settings are. Maybe someone else can confirm?
97-03 Grand Prix(2.93 final)
First: 54mph shift @5800rpms
Second: 96mph shift @5600rpms
Third: 140mph shift @5200rpms
Fourth: 200mph shift?
03+ Grand Prix (3.29 final)
First: 48mph shift @5800rpms
Second: 86mph shift @5600rpms
Third: 125mph shift @5200rpms
Fourth: 180mph shift?
....or something like that. I'm not to good when it comes to gearing....

The 2004 are not 5 speeds. The Comp G package has TapShift, but still the same 4 speed tranny as the 97-03s with a different gear ratio. A stock CLS auto and a Stock GTP are pretty evenly matched up. Stock the GTPs run anywhere from 14.5-15.1 depending on driver. Most fall in the 14.7-.9 range.
Lemme think, when I was stock, I got a 1-2 shift at around 55, and a 2-3 shift at around 94, I never ran out 3rd gear, the 1/4 mile is too short.

There is a new 350Z owner and his buddy who just got the new GTP Comp Edition. In few weeks both will be at NED to run the GTP. I may race the new GTP.. The 350Z is doing 13.9@101 MPH!! Yeah that is quick!!

I also raced a gtp. It was the old model and the kid had a cold air intake. I was with my buddy headed out the beach one night to pick up some chicks. I noticed a car coming up on my left really fast so I sped up a little. The kid came up next to me and started the floor it over and over so I gunned i and stayed next to him up to around 115. We slowed down and he asked me if I wanted to race and I said sure. We went to an old road that was kind of isolated. My friend got out of the car and I raced the guy about 5 times. I won 3 of the times. It would all depend on how I got off the line. The car had a lot of supercharger noise. I have a 2003 cl types that is stock with an auto.

TQ > MPG
I raced a Comp-G pkg a couple weeks ago in my CL-S also. He took me off the line by a car, but once I was in 2nd gear I was pulling on him. He shut it down at like 80mph, and I was at the top of 3rd gear, and was steadily pullign away, but not by alot. He only had CAI.
I also raced a 97-02 GTP in my Mustang once. We went from a 50mph roll and it was dead-fvckin even. I started to pull a tiny bit after he shifted into 3rd, but not alot. He had pulley/exhaust/cai, and ran low 14's @ 100mph :o
