just noticed as temp outside drooped to 59f i got some pinging!!
i was on the road tonight and hit it wide open boost and she pinged alittle around 5200 rpm,i was told as temp drops i might need to increase fuel pressure so thats what im going to do tommorow!!!!!!!!! this was the coldest out all summer .i guess since the air is cooler it needs more fuel .i dont want to have this fu**in issue.damm im pissed

i need to raise fuel pressure since cold air is denser and all summer it was around 75-95 but tonight as temp went down to 59 she started to detonate slightly and thats no good!!!!!!!!!!!

It's most likely a slight dip in octane. When air is colder and thus denser, the combustion process is more complete/efficient. Case in point: I live in an area where days average in the low 60s to 70s, and nights are in the 40s-50s. Never once had a problem with knock/detonation on hard acceleration in these conditions. Try refueling w/ another brand of gasoline when you reach 1/4, or pour in a bottle of octane boost w/ the gas you normally use.

you always seem to fix your own problems Eric.......
told you days ago, you had some bad gas... I know it is hard, but stick to the same Station and same pump that you always use..

Y would you want to raise your fuel pressure or mess around with that. Doesn't the computer compensate for the knocking with its knock sensor and retard the timing a little to prevent it. 59 degrees is not that cold. San Francisco 59deg is like having a warm day.. My engine doesn't knock.

The SC kit includes a rising rate regulator and by adjusting the gain you can increase the amount of fuel supplied under boost.
Yes, there is a knock control system but there are times it is lacking. After the VTEC change-over occurs on a boosted engine it goes leaner for a short period. Couple this with the greater timing being thrown at it and knock occurs sometimes.

That's weird, I always thought higher temps would lead to more chance of detonation. Hmm. I guess it makes sense though since colder the car runs stronger but that might put it closer to a lean condition.
