Just got quoted for my 105k service

I recently did my own cabin air filter, but the rest of it was quited at $958.32. Does this seem fair? This is the list they gave me...

$46.90
$159.90
$38.00
$475.00
$49.90
$88.85
TOTAL = $868.00
these are optional but they are access belts that have to come off to get to the timing belt anyway, said it's good to replace them too...

$48.94
$40.83

Bringing my grand total to $958.32.

If that is a dealer quote including labor, thats an amazing price.

I've gotten quote from a couple of local shops near greater Boston area for the timing belt service.

860 from a Honda/Acura specialist garage and 650 from another.

Like said above if that's the dealer, thats a nice price. Are there any independent trust worthy Acura/Honda shops in your area? Price quote them as well.

Also check out a Honda dealer, if that was a quote from Acura.

Most shows should be able to do it for $6-800. If thats an independent shop, its a bit high.

Thanks for all the replies guys. That is an independent shop that I trust wholeheartedly. I am going to go to Acura at Oxmoor here in Louisville today when I get off work. That price is for all labor and everything, but does not include my cabin air filter, which I believe is supposed to be changed at 105k but I did that last week. Should I replace those two belts listed at the end, or is that something that I could do myself? He didn't itemize it for me b/c he was in a hurry, he just gave me the sheet where it tells everything Acura calls for and a list of prices.

They must be list prices. If you truly trust the shop, get the rates for labor and buy the parts elsewhere.

I can tell you right now, you can get the accessory belts for ~$30 for both online. $48 for one is asinine.

Not sure if its the same in Kentucky or Virginia, but in Cali if the installer provided the parts, they must warranty for said parts. If you buy your parts elsewhere than they are not warrantied by the installer.

I paid about $850 for for timing belt/waterpump service including accessory belts, two tensioners and radiator fluid. Expensive, but the guys at my Indy Honda/Acura place have much better mechanics than my local dealer.

I can understand the parts not being warrantied, but any shop worth anything will warranty the work.

If you buy OEM Honda parts, I believe they have a 12 month warranty.
