Just a few CL TypeS questions

First off, i'd like to say u guys have a great site going on here. I am new to this forum, and i just had a few questions about the CL. I'm sorry if any of my questions may seem noob like.

Do any of you know if the 2003 Acura CL TypeS guage cluster will fit in an 98-03 Accord?

Also, is there a difference between a 2001-2002 CL TypeS auto Engine versus a 2003 6 Speed engine. I know they are both J32 engines, but were there any changes in emissions or anything of that nature? Basically, if i had a 6 speed transmission, would it work with just any CL typeS engine? Assuming i have all the proper wiring and ecu.

I appreciate any help i can get.

i used to have the 99 accord, and if i remember correctly, the gauge cluster was a lot different from what the type S has...type S has 3 separate sections whereas the accord had one big ass piece...i dont know if the cluster can just be fitted into the accords...its possible but im not too sure..it doesnt seem like it though

as for the differences in auto and 6 speed..i think theyre the same..just a different transmission and less power loss to the wheel with the 6 speed

welcome by the way

thanks for the reply robeaneee. i just got off the phone with the dealership, they said that there is a difference in engines from the 01-02 cl type s engines and the 03 type s engines. they also said there is a difference in 03 between the auto and manual engines. Does anyone know the details of the differences? i was under the assumption that i could get at least an 03 engine and just get manual electronics. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

The rear bank header has a bend on the 6-speed to clear the counterweight.

Other than that, I'm drawing a blank. The engine itself is the same, I think. Just the bend in the header.

so if i get say...a 2002 auto engine, and just change to 6speed headers i should be ok? there isn't any internal work or changes of that nature?

I highly doubt it. I don't see why there would be any internal changes.

Let me get this straight -- you want to get an '02 J32A2 and bolt up the '03 CL-S 6-speed transmission to it?

You're probably better off buying that wrecked blue CL-S on eBay and get all the parts. Not only do you need other miscellaneous parts, but you also need the '03 6-speed ECU. An auto ECU definitely would not work with the 6-speed because it'll be looking for gears to switch, and upon not finding any, it'll throw off all kinds of codes.

hahaha nice, i saw that wrecked cl too. very interested...but i'm guessing it'll probably end bidding around 7-8k. kinda outta my budget range right now. i can get a hold of the ecu relatively cheap, and i already have a 6 speed tranny. so i'm basically just trying to locate the proper engine now.
