Just bought 2003 CL - S BLK/BLK 6spd

Hey Guys,

I am new to the forum. I just bought a 2003 CL Type S BLK on BLK 6spd. Any suggestion on mods that will get the most HP for my $$ ? Anyone know where I can get nice doors sills, pedals and floor matts ?

Thanks

Just your usual stuff..Intake, Headers, Exhaust and if you got real money do the supercharger. Check out the section with our vendors for parts. Excelerate is a great vendor to deal with.

I got my door sills at EvolutionAutodesign, my pedals at Autovation, and you can get floor mats through C-C-C.net (<---vendor) or Auto Car Parts

In order of HP Ratings.
Exhaust
Intake
Headers
Supercharger
Turbo

These are the most common and easy to come by (- the turbo) upgrades, the cheapest being intake which sould run no more than $300 and the most expensive being the Comptech Supercharger which is a hair under $5,000 or a completely custom Turbo setup which would run $7,000+.

Welcome to the board, and enjoy your CL.

Welcome to the money pit. Leave your cash at the door.

As for mods. I'll start with an intake and some springs. Then if you have the cash, headers, spacers, wheels. Exhaust doesn't add any real horsepower, but enhances the sound.

Let us know what you are looking to do. Are you interested in speed, handling, or looks.

I am looking for better handling. I previous ride was a 01 A4 2.8 Q w/ultra sport package ( factory 17in wheels and factory drop about an inch) it handled like it was on rails ! The CL S is alittle loose in the front. I am looking for a better exhaust system as well. The factory setup seems to be abit rusted.

I would suggest, what i have, Comptech exhaust (looks and sounds the best, IMO) and as far as springs/shocks go, I would suggest going with Comptech springs and Tokico Illumnia Adj. Shocks. Ive also got beefed up sways and an upper strut bar that might help out guite a bit to, both from Comptech

Other members have found good luck with the following springs and shocks.
H&R Springs, Eibach Springs....Tein SS Coilovers, Koni Yellows, Bilstein, etc.

Other Exhaust
Greddy, HKS, Magnaflow.

The only thing you will get any noticible gains from is the headers, the Type-S exhaust is extremely effiecient and free flowing.

Comptech Sways are a must if you want to upgrade your handling. I like Eibach springs myself ..

Don't fit 6mt

CT & XSpower(ebay seller) are the only 6mt versions.

LOL! This site got me totally hooked now that I know what the CL is capable of. I cant save a dime, I havent had my car for a year and Im dumping all my hard earned money into it!
American Express raised my limit $10G's? Ron Jon body kit coming?? charge it!! Its the american way right! haha

IMO, im happier paying the interest for a few months and having a hooked up ride now then saving $$ and slowly buying things down the road...but no serious vacation soon

Why does everyone want springs on their car? Every lowered TL or CL I've come across squeaks and rattles so bad because the springs are so much harsher on the car. I saw a 03 CL 6 MT with Comptech springs and 40,000 miles that was well taken care of and even the armrest squeaked! No thanks.

im not thinking the springs are what made the inside of the car rattle.

When the hell did you become a moderator?

Welcome! Nice pick up. As always...

Tell your wallet to &

Oh yeah, start with some springs or a set of coilovers. It will handle way better if you do.

Don't listen to these fools, stock is where it's at...

If it were me, I'd get headers, springs and CT icebox...

Guess it is.. I had 2 CLS 6MT's neither rattled before or after mods. I get more road, & engine noise though.
Same mods on each one

I'm seeing the cars 20,000-40,000 miles AFTER the mods. I know when I drive them I feel the bumps a whole lot more and you'd think everything else in the car would too.

I only have about 10K on my H&R's, but I have zero rattles or squeaks
Car itself has 25K on it, could be too new yet for the noises. I do get the sunroof noise everyonce in a while, but its not really noticable

I've been running with CT springs/sways/strutbar and Koni Yellows on lightweight wheels (18" x 7.5", 17LBS each) for over 35k miles and only hear slight rattles depending on outside temp. Most of the time, I don't hear any rattles.
