Just bought an 03 CL Type-S !

What's up everyone, I thought I would join this board since I just bought a black 2003 CL Type-S with the 6 speed tranny! It's in mint shape and has 29K miles (well 47K kms actually since I live in Canada).

I was rather impressed with its acceleration given the 2 passengers inside the vehicle during the test drive (and this is coming from a muscle car guy). More so, I was impressed with the smoothness of the transmission, and the responsiveness of the clutch. Braking seemed a little mushy but that may be due to work out brakes. As for handling, I didn't really get a chance to test it out because it was wet out.

If there's any particular things I should know about the car, feel free to let me know!

Well anyways, here's a crappy pic from the dealer, I will take much better ones when I take delivery in the next few days:

Looking forward to talking to you all soon!

Yes, the car stock handles like crap, but slap on a good suspension set up and you have a quick car that car handle good and look good too...

I don't think I will modify it very much, I've done some research on this forum and the only thing that seems worthwhile is an AEM CAI, or maybe the Icebox, but I am partial to AEM due to having owned one of their CAI's before.

Then again... it sure would look better without the wheel gap.

I hope I get delivery of it tomorrow, I'm kind of anxious to get it. I'm also having 2nd thoughts about not checking out BMW 330's and the G35... but I know the cost of ownership on 330's is higher, while cost of purchase on both the 330 and G35 is higher as well. I think for the $$$, I made a good decision.

Hey you're in Orlando... I was there last weekend. Was kinda chilly on Saturday!

Saw a white 03 CL-S 6spd @ CarMax (the Chrysler one), sticker on window said 22K, and had a SOLD sign as well ! Was mint, I wish my car was white or blue or red... I think black is classier but less sporty!

It was kinda chilly last weekend.......I definitely think a USED CL-s is the best deal you can get with power, luxury and style for a good price. You shouldn't overlook headers as a mod, but you will really love the sound change with CAI. When I put my stock intake back on, the car sounded girly. The gap was a big problem for me too and I had to change that, you can see what I drive now in my sig...........o, i love it

You guys are pretty close...I live in Lakeland. I just bought an 03 CL-S as well for my fiance. We love it, and I plan on doing some things to it, but not sure what yet.

Congrats - black looks great on the CLS, better than blue or white for sure IMO. I like red too, (and anthracite )

SAY WHAT? Is that the mustard color?

I'm not 100% on the black but when you buy used, you don't have too much choice. Red looks sportiest, blue is the best color for this car IMO, and white looks awesome too. The only thing black's got going for it is that it matches the headlights, and looks the classiest of all the colors. Now the mustard color...

The 6sp rules! Good luck and drop that thing and add some sways. When you drop it, make sure to put on some Koni Yellows. I wish i had done it when i dropped, but i didn't.

CLS Color lesson #1
Anthracite is a type of coal, thus the color is a dark charcoal metallic color! Only offered in 03.
The 'mustard' you mention is Sundance Gold offered in a limited number for the 01 CLS release. It's not mustard at all...more of a copper gold.
Silver and black are the most common CL colors.

Ahhh, the anthracite sounds like a nice gunmetal color, I would have loved to have that! But you can only be so picky when you want a 6spd, eh?

There were only 2 6spd 03's in all of Ontario (yep, I live in Canada, and Ontario's HUGE)... the one I didn't buy was in a rear-end accident and then fixed up.

Thanks, My car is basically stock, no major mods besides springs.
I think black looks best on the CL but is more maintenance. Mine shows dirt pretty easily too.

How come you have the fat spoke wheels and I got the 10 spokes... I thought all 03 CL-S 6spd came with the same wheels ?

Looks good, I think I prefer yours over my thin 10 spokes. The fat spokes look beefier and suit the car better, IMO.
