Juiced CL

I guess I'll be the first to ruin a new CL. I just picked up mine brand new from the acura dealership Sunday and I have 4 hydraulics pumps waiting to go in. I'll post pics as soon as it's laying on the ground.

You'll have to excuse me - I'm from the tight-assed northeast.

What are you going to do with the pumps? Are you going to bounce our lovely CLS? We'll need more than pictures on this one...the horror! I can't watch!

If you paid for it, it's your car to do whatever you want. It's not ruined unless you do a shit job on installation.

------------------
Please have a crane drop on my car so I have to buy a new CL-S. But wait till I'm not in the car. Thanks

I'm not the least concerned with bouncing. It's running off 4 parker accumulators which means it'll lift slow, but ride like a 79 Cadi on blown shock. Nice and smooth.

Yes, it will have full ride height adjustment. If the new CL's suspension is as similar to the Accord V6 as I assume, it will lay nearly on the ground when down, and 10" up when lifted. With accumulators the ride is great, but the handling is compromised. I think a minivan would corner better. Anyhow, if you care to see my 97 Accord with hydrualics you can do so at http://www.artofnoize.com/Cars/aaron.htm. A basic hydraulic install could weigh as little as 50 lbs. Mine will be close to 150, not including the stereo. I've spent the past 3 years perfecting the hydraulics in my accord. They're quite reliable, and believe it or not...don't leak a drop. I purchased the CL as my new project, I hope to make a nice impact with it.

Aaron's ride

and I guess Mike's ride

Very interesting look.
This wouldn't fly up here in the Northeast because of potholes and pennies littering the ground. Seriously, can you ride at that height with ANY passengers?

I guess everyone's taste is different, but these cars look like total rice! I mean, why would you do a mod that decreases cornering ability and adds weight? What a waste of a beautiful car...

Totally "rice??" You can call my car a ghetto sled, hoopty, or even a useless piece of trash...but "rice??" That hurts. I've always interpreted "rice" vehicles as ones with TypeR stickers plastered all over then with a carbon fiber hood and and triple stack aggressor wing. If my car is looked at as a "rice" ride...I might as well shoot myself.

Hey 4pumpedcl, I might not do it, but I like it! Especially the hootch in the front seat of the link!

Hey, I did mention that "some people have different tastes." I personally think it would be awesome to be able to change the clearance of my car from inside, drop it down to a few inches for good cornering at high speeds, and raise it back up to 5 or 6 inches to be able to clear all of the potholes on a city street. One of the new BMW concept cars does this.

The idea is to actually increase cornering at high speeds, but have the ability to drive over a dip if you have to.

Sure, a lot of rice is just "Type R" stickers on a Civic, etc., but another type of rice is a mod that actually harms the performance of your car. We've all seen Civics with cut springs where the alignment is all out of wack and the wheels point inward.

I don't mean to start a flame or anything, but some engineer at Acura spent a long time designing that suspension, especially on the Type S. Why mess with a good thing?

If you want to see a few examples of how out of hand this can get, check out this page.

I just want to say also that it would be great to have a friendly discussion on this subject.

I'm new to this board but I do plan on buying a CL-S or a TL-S this year. I've test driven the BMW 328ci, Audi A4, Audi TT (225 hp model), Nissan Maxima, Lexus IS300, and of course the Acura CL-S and TL. The Acura is by far the best car I've driven in this price range, and performs way better than most cars that cost $45k or less.

I noticed that a lot of people on this board have mods, but they are usually the performance-enhancing type of mods. I think the Type S is really a car for the performance enthusiast that also wants some luxury features.

When I do get my CL-S, I think the only things I will add to it are the headers, sway bars, springs, and possibly wheels. The rest of the car seems great the way it is.

What is everyone's opinion of mods that are just "for looks" and actually decrease the performance of the car?

Again, I'm not trying to start a flame war, I just want to hear what your opinions are. The people on this board are definitely a different cross-section of Acura owners than you might see at the dealership and I'd like to know your opinion.

I'm pretty tight assed (but not as bad as lucky) but I think this would look kind of cool. The point here guys is that this is a project car for him and that it is not cheesy stickers and $15 gold tint jobs. This looks like quality work with a real goal in mind. I would love to see this occur.

I'd also like to see it bounce! j/k

as long as you like what you do with your car, its cool. i personally am not crazy about doing that to a $30k car, but hey, it's your money. whatever floats your boat, and as long as the workmanship is good, you have my respect.

Yea I say go for it... why stop there, go with a phantom top, tripple gold Z's with rear wheel off-set. Screw the phantom top just cut it off.

I really don't think most of you understand what this mod does to a car. Here in Cali it is something to deal with at least once a week. These cars struggle to do just 50mph down the freeway. 65 is simlply out of the question.

Don’t forget the dingle-berries, shag wheel cover, purple window tint and gold crown on the dash.

Sorry to be such a PRICK, it just comes naturally for me.
