I've never changed the in-cabin micro-filter...

I've got 80,000 miles on my car, i've never replaced the in-cabin micro filter. Am I going to die?

EDIT: Seriously, am I really missing out on anything? Or is it just a waste of $35 or however much the filter costs?

Is that the same as the dust and pollen filter or air cleaner element?

I need to do mine too. Probably come spring time.
There’s an FAQ floating around here somewhere. Someone will provide a link.

It's really easy, I just did it last weekend in 20 minutes.....Mine had never been changed before and I have 78k on the car, the white filter was BLACK and really gross looking. I would definitely do it if I were all of you.
I got them for less than $20 from some site that has been listed before, and the directions that were originally written by Jens make it REALLY easy.
JUST DO IT! you'll be happy you did.
Do a search for the directions to install and links to buy them.

It's easy but a little tricky. You can probably find a few write ups on this site about it. Mine were pretty dirty at 25k when I did them. They do filter a lot of crap out of the air.

For someone who has put as much money into their car as you have Steve, I would expect you to have done it earlier.

I just did mine at 82xxx

Uh oh, I have 78k and haven't changed mine either. Steve, at the speeds you get up to I wouldn't be surprised if you find small animals crammed up in there.

Does anyone have that one?

Don't forget you need Quantity 2 of the filters per car.

I know....no, it states that it comes with 2 per box... so you only need to order 1 ...

Here is the slot that the air cleaner element goes in, without the filter in it.

Here was my Filter at ~ 50k miles: You can see the replacement one in the pic.
It was just a little dirty

Every 10-15k miles I do the following:

Change oil (Mobil 1)
Change oil filter
Change in-cabin air filters
Change engine air filter
Change brake pads

That's it... Got 56k miles, can runs like a dream...
