Stock for stock, no.

I was at an 1/8th mile track. Raced 3 times against an is300 with exhaust only(don't know if it was auto or manual). Beat him every time by at least 1.5 car lengths, at most 2.5. It was my first time at the track too.

He will get smoked. The 5sp manual does nothing for that car. I don't why Lexus didn't come out with a 6sp instead.

Because the 6-speed in the IS 200 could not handle the TORQUE of the I-6.

If u think the 5-speed does nothing for the car you must have driven slushboxes your whole life.

So yes, once again the CL-S will beat the IS 300 but that is about it.

I'm not knocking the car, I like the IS300... just wish it had more power. Hopefully with the redesign Lexus will put a turbo in it. I just think the gains from a manual tranny should be more. When you look at an auto IS300 Vs. manual IS300 the difference is not that great. As for as the slushbox thing I have had the pleasure of owning a manual 95 Civic.

Dude, auto trannies are so good right now, that in a straight-line they are almost now equal to a manual. Manual is for control.

Then the 6-speed CL-S is no faster than the auto according to the mags, so what now?

I guess Lexus figured if u want a fast IS, do it yourslef (till the factory s/c comes out) cause there are many 400+ hp IS 300s walking around.

I do not mag race, but if you take the avg. of em it gives you a general idea. Funny no one mentions the 0-60 in 7 sec the TL-S got in Road & Track.:wackit:

I guess the 6-speed is supposed to get high 5s in the 0-60.

Acura claims what...... .5 sec. increase in 0-100kph (0-62mph). SO.... we do the math, and....

In mags and on net reviews, it's been said that the .5 sec number may be a bit on the conservative side, so it may be even quicker? Who knows.... gotta wait for a 6-spd to hit the track to see.

Check your perscription and get your reading comprehension checked. The 6MT was .5 seconds faster than the 5EAT This topics has been discussed before but the lower weight and LSD will contribute to lower ET in the 1/4. It's simple physics.
