Inverter and HID low beam available after market?

THanks alot for the quick reply and the pics! It definitely helped me today! I finished the retrofit, hooked everything up, & it works great. But still, it bothers me that the two leads were not labeled. Oh well.

You do realize that that adapter IS in the kit, dont you? Its this part:
Pull the cables out of the rubber grommet and that is the adapter they charge $8 for.

The D2S and D2R kits are the exact same as the H1 kit (pictured) and the other kits I have here, the only difference being the base on the bulb.
But, out of curiosity, if you're kit truly did not come with the correct wiring, which kit did you in fact order and why did my instructions on the previous page work for lauseefu?

I had to buy that harness individually from DDM. Thats what I've been saying all along the harness from the ballast to our wiring harness is not included in the kit.
Edit: I even mentioned it on page 1 of this thread!!!

Im getting a bit confused because on the first page you said the ballast only had the two male flying leads (which is the harness I circled). Those flying leads get connected to our harness. Its not a plug and play kit, you have to splice the power wires.

There is no power supply cable (H1/H7 to 9006 cable) when you order the D2R or D2S bulbs you receive the ballasts, bulb connectors (cables that go from the ballasts to the bulbs), and bulbs that's it. I think SlickShiftNall6 and I ordered our kits around the same time so I couldn't take advantage of his warning.

Interesting. Im going to contact them and ask about that. Its very odd that that would be missing.
Slickshift, you did mention two male leads on your ballast, what were they connected to?

"The adapter cables to go from the stock wiring to the ballast for a D2 retrofit are not included in that kit (many installations don't require those cables so they are an optional item). The cables that you need are the H1/H7 to 9006 adapter cables: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/H1H7-to-9006-Adaptor-Cable"
Such BS

Yes it is. Theyre already hitting you with a $15 fee for a new bulb base and now they want you to pay an additional $8 for something that is included in the $35 kits. I know its not much money, but it just doesnt seem right. Especially since you can buy those connectors for less then $2, and they come with wires already attached.

I re-routed my wiring on my aftermarket HID kits. I thought the ballast was bad....I was WRONG.. the blb went out. I didn't have to change my wiring but it will help in the future if the ballast takes a dump.
This was my previous set-up. Very clean, but would suck if the ballast goes out and you have to R&R bumper and headlights. I cut a piece of acrylic and used some gasket adhesive.

Thanks for the install info civicdrivr, richardparker and everyone else. Will post pics after buddy snaps photos.
High beam vs low beam. I got every other car flashing me on two lane roads.
Is the low beam on these new DDM bulb and ballast kits combined with my brand new headlight casing just so bright that it seems like it's on high beam? I took it for an inspection today and they said the settings were spot on.
But when i drive up and shine against a building at night, the difference between low bean and high beam is practically nothing. I mean its like low beam is 99% of high beam.

pics?
So we simply unscrewed the high beam bulbs -for now and i run it with the lever clicked on "high" (which actually turns on the low).
Is this gonna be a cluster to fix or is this gonna be fairly easy and a good time to shrink wrap and do it right like the original shop did not?

civicdrivr when you said "pics" did you mean pics while standing 75 feet away of headlamps on or pics under the hood of the wiring cluster as currently incorrectly set up?

I will probably be getting the DMM kit in the near future as well. My drivers side HID finally died after 128K on a long trip last week. Going to do the troubleshooting drill though, just for giggles.

You have to splice in to the oem harness. The aftermarket ballast has a 9006 size socket that makes it easier to convert a 9006 to hid so you still need the adapter cable and you still need to splice. When they no splicing or uses OEM harness, they mean IF you have a 9006 lamp to begin with.
You need to cut the two male spade connectors off and splice them to the OE harness. The black and yellow plug goes to the ballast.

HI, I have read al the posts on this thread, and you seem to be either a rep for the company, or at the least, very knowledgeable about the products. I went on the DDM web site and can't find the Acura CL kit listed. I've got a 01 CLS. Can you point me to the proper place on the Web site to order what I need. I don't want to have to send stuff back or have to order more items. Thanks, Joe.C

I dont work for them. There is no vehicle specific kit, everything is universal and you have to splice it in. Its very simple to do though, only two wires - positive and negative.
You can get either the slim ballast kit:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W
Or the full size Raptor kit:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ap...Raptor-HID-Kit
Either way, select the following from the drop down menus:
The adapter cable has the 9006 connector on it that connects directly into the ballast and two spade connectors on the other end. Cut the spade connectors off and solder those wires to the OEM harness that plugged into the old ballast (dont forget heat shrink or at the very last, electrical tape).
Then for mounting, you have to get creative and see what works best for you. Spoolin's method above is pretty good.

HID Harness - None
Error Code Eliminator - None

His idea for covering the opening under the light is great; inaddition, it appears that the non-DDM kit he procured came with a plastic mounting ballast bracket. I'm going to have to get 'creative' and fab something up to get these installed ASAP.

I havent mounted the DDM kit in my car (oem works fine but Im actually going with Morimoto ballasts for the next retro). The Morimotos have a bracket built into the case. I have DDMs on my bike and I just used velcro. Its a much tighter space and it never sees rain though so youd want something a bit more reliable on the car.
Ive got a DDM slim ballast in my hand right now. A strategically placed zip tie should do the trick

These things (ballasts) look pretty waterproof from the engineered standpoint, would it be prudent to cover them for extra measure?
Or should they be mounted so that they can 'breath'? I would imagine they get hot during use.

If you are mounting them near the stock location, they are shielded from driving rain. Moisture can still get up there, but not nearly as much. I wouldnt touch the case itself, but make sure the 9006 plug is a water tight plug (they have an o-ring around them). Also use shrink tubing on all solder joints and I also have a can of PlastiDip Liquid Tape. Depending on the environment, I will apply that into the plugs where the wires go in if there is no protective covering on it to begin with.

lol, Yeah, make sure you order the right kit. I received mine yesterday. It came all the way from Xinghua City, China after ordering it on Oct 29th. Both slime line ballasts/connectors/D2R bulbs look high in quality. Very pleased. They even sent two extra 9006 adapter cords.

Looks as if it may be used to help direct the light in some way?
Mine looks like the bulb on page 25 located on the link below:
http://www.ddmtuning.com/techtips/bulbguide_low.pdf
What kind of innovative solution are you going to utilize in securely mounting the ballasts to/near the headlight? I was looking at some small shallow plastic electrical boxes at HomeDepot for inspiration/ideas.
