insurance on type S
They could at lease take you to dinner and kiss you before the screw ya like that. $14000 a year is absolute robbery. I am 21/m in NJ..one of the highest insurance states in the land i am paying a little under $1900 per year, with a clean record.
$14000 per year, they better give you a hot girl that drives around in your car everywhere you go and offers endless oral favors to ya....then it may be a decent deal. Until that day comes..find yourself a new insurance agent or move.

Just out of curiousity a co-working and myself filled out an online estimate with geico using the CL-S, and we put in the info for brooklyn. (made up an address of 10 smiths LN) and filled in the info for medium insurance using an age of 24 with no accidents fo tickets and got back an online quote of roughly $11,000 a year...that's way too much money for insurance.

Ok. Brooklyn is going to be a problem to insure a car whether your record is clean or not. Out of those 14000 around 10K is probably for comprehensive and collisioin the rest is liability (estimates only). Brooklyn has one of the highest accident rates around. It also has the highest insurance fraud rates in the country. This is what drives up the insurance prices. BTW they just went up 15% (I think) on March 1, 2001. So if you want to live in brooklyn (and I don't see why anyone would I am moving soon
) be prepared to pay the price.

1) The VIN #s for the CL and CLS differ by 1 or 2 letters but they are definately different. In addition to that I think that CL and CLS are in different comprehensive coverage classes.
So eighteight the only thing I can actually recommend for you is get the insurance under somebody else's name, your parent's name or something, or get an address out of state or even in upstate NY. However if you get it in upstate or out of state, you better pray that you don't have an accident in brooklyn (which is a pretty hard thing to do
) because with the regulations that are in effect right now you are going to get fucked twice, first be your friendly local PD with questions like where were you going, why, and stuff like that, and then the insurance company with questions like why the fuck were you there to begin with. SO be careful and good luck

i dont know maybe your right, but when i got a quote on the internet from kemper direct, they ask what model, and they wanted about 7500 for the cl, and a little over 9000 for the cl-s. maybe a real person's quote would be diff. I would think it would only be natural for a car with more horsepower and more valuable would cost more with insurance.
