Insurance Question for Marylanders
Hi all this is my first post though I've been an acura-cl.com addict for awhile. Thanks JRock and Aegean Blue CLS for the tip on National Glass & Tinting. They did a great job.
Here is my question, my insurance is currently 2500 a year with Nationwide Mutual. It's this high because I've had only one ticket which unfortunately was a reckless driving ticket in VA (66 by Manassas). I got it knocked down to improper driving with the help of a lawyer. BUT here's the kicker when the conviction was transfered over to MD DMV records from VA, MD did not recognize the improper driving violation but instead lists me as committing reckless driving with no points. MD DMV did this because they have no "code" to input into their computer records as improper driving and hence must list me as commiting reckless driving. (Confusing isn't it?)
I've been shopping around with insurance companies and practically no one will take me because the "reckless driving" is stuck on my history though it really should be improper driving.
I was curious to know if anyone is in a similar situation and if so if you're rate is cheaper please let me know. Thanks all.

I'm in the EXACT situation. It's total bullshit if you ask me. Yet another example of why MD is going to shit. Idiots everywhere ... If they have no code, they should either list it as "speeding" or not list it at all (which they won't do). I've been considering filing a complaint to every office I can get an address for to get this fixed. If I do something I'll let you know.
As far as insurance, I get assraped by Progressive. I hear Erie is cheap. I am going to talk to them as soon as those mofos get off the damn phone =)
I'll let you know what they say =)
<EDIT> Okay. It's $700/6 on my Escort ZX2. I pay Progressive $1250 for the same car. Assuming you don't have a suspended license, you should be able to save a shitload too. Remember, your results may vary </edit>

depending on how long ago your previous tickets were, you should consider cleaning your record...check out:
