Insurance company here in Toronto?

hi fellow torontonians..
I realized that the rate here in toronto is not very friendly towards younger drivers. I am currently still driving on BC's insurance company ICBC and holding BC license.
i am planning on changing to ontario's insurance co. However, i called Allstate today to get a quote, and damn, they said my rate is so high, they can't insure me. They quote me 9k.
Here is my driving record in a glance,
1 accident in August 01, over 2k damange
1 accident in May, 98, still over 2k, my previous car
1 ticket due to the accident in May 98
1 speeding ticket in 99
Thats about it. Can anyone recommand me any reasonable insurance co that may serve my best interest ? And I am 23, single. About how much should i expect from other co. ?

12+12+16=40 grand in insurance over 3 years? Somebody has to ask "are ya nuts"!! The CLS is 40 grand in Canada (plus taxes etc around 50), insurance over 3 years is 40 grand, wow you could do a lot with 90G's. And this is before mods!

skyline, f*ck getting insurance in TO, drive on ICBC for as long as possible. Even if you get a ticket or in an accident and you have to pay a few thousand, that's still cheaper than paying 9 grand for a year. Have you told ICBC you're leaving the province? Any chance you're going to school there? Maybe you could register and take a course or something, that way you could say you're going to school...

I see, thats what I had in mind before. But again, I don't want any hassle if in case i get into accident. The law here is that you need to switch license and insurance after 6 month. Of course, techinically, who would know when i got here? but if they really want to dig into this..
I am here for school. I knew many vancouver people who just keep on driving with ICBC insurance because its ok if you go to school here.
How true is that ? Is this assumption of going to school using icbc insurance varified by the motor vehicle branch here in Ontario ?

Thanx a lot for your recommandation. I just don't see the point of paying insurance for almost half of your car's market value. Damn, i only had to pay 1600 for the past two year... prior to accident last year... this year, ICBC wll charge me.. roughly 4 - 5k.. i guess. But i probably will give joanne a call at last resort
