Installing V1
I just got my valentine's gift early from my gf and I am really anxious to install this thing. 
I have a 3.0 CL so it is a little different then the one that shawn did, that is why I am posting. I need to access a 12v wire, How would I go about finding one? I have a Service manual supplement handy. Is the capacity telling me how much power it can handle? Or something else?
Under capacity, it lists everything in A's (Amps)???
Like, "windshield wiper motor: Wirecolor = Grn/Blk Capacity = 30A"
How would I figure this out?? Also, they supplied me with a clip that clips onto a wire, do I have to strip that wire, or does it clip itself into the wire? Should I even use this? Can anyone shine some light onto this??? Please I really want to mount this tonight..

No disrespect intended but if you don't know what amps mean or how to find a switched ignition wire by reading the service manual schematics, I would try to employ the assistance of a friend or neighbor who might be more familiar with electrical wiring. A six pack and a free spin after the installation should be equitable compensation for the assist.

Trust me, no offense taken. I haven't taken any physics stuff for a while so I dont remember anything from it. Sigh, I can't even get the cover off...Im pretty sure it is different from the CL-S because my 3.0 fuse cover thing isn't coming off! 
Oh well...I really wanted it tonight so I can have it for the weekend..but I guess my car is more important. So I will go get it installed unless someone here can help

You don't need a physics class to understand any of this. Nearly everything you need to know is in the V1 user/installation guide that came with your detector.

This is what the side panel looks like for me CLpower. Don't know if it is the same or not...I lost my manual so I don't know if the info to take it apart was in there or not? Was it in yours?

1) Look in your owner manual to determine how to open the fuse panel door.
2) look in the panel or the back of the door which you just removed or the owners manual to find a fuse which controls something which is not powered when the key is out. Also choose something which logic says might not use alot of power to avoid any potential for over drawing from that fuse. Then use Shawn's "pull the fuse, spread the wire, reinsert the fuse" instructions and ignore trying to find a wire to "tap" into.
3) To the best of my knowledge, all the wires are going to be 12V and will power the V1.
PS: I am not an electrician and not nothing about such things, however, I have wired up a number of things to the fuse box over the years with nothing but an Economics degree - seems to have worked fine

CL-S #22,299 Black/Parchment/Nav, spoiler, door & fender guards, wood trim, PIAA 19169 & 9005, V1 w/remote, trunk & winter mats, no headers, no sway bars, no springs, no money!

tw1112, I 2nd the lighter temporary power source suggestion just to get your V1 working tonight, then enlist a friend familiar (& successful) w/ wiring. It's so easy to do it right and make it neat ....... it's also easy to bungle the job, not have the device work, and/or toast things under the dash.

Mike, I still have to go buy a manual from the dealer, so I will see about that stuff later on today.
Tsg77, Yeah I would go ask some of my friends right now but they have finals and such and I really don't want to screw there concentration up. I am the last person that wants to screw up my car

What would happen if I tapped into a fuse that wasn't 12v capable? Would I fry my electrical system??
