Installing door sills...

What would be the best route to go as far as installing them? Should i take it too the Acura dealer or go to a body shop? Oh and to BullDog01... Thanks for the site. It's exactly what i was looking for. Good looking out!!!

Glad to help.

Don't waste your money taking the sills to a dealer or shop for installation.

My sills came with 3M double-sided tape along a good portion of each sill. I have had no issues with my sills becoming unstuck.

Be sure to clean the plastic sill area on the car with alcohol or some other cleaner before installing the sills. Also, be sure to place the sill on the plastic sill area to get a good idea of where you want to place it, as it will not be easy to remove the sills if you install them crookedly. Once you have satisfactorily "measured," remove the tape backing, and press the sill firmly into place on the plastic sill area.

Easy as pie! Good luck!

BTW...where in NC are you?

Both of mine came off due to the cold weather.

Once it warms up a bit they're both going on with epoxy and they ain't gonna be coming off again.

If you do a search you'll notice that the quality is hit or miss... some people have had problems, other have not, so buy at your own risk

I used epoxy, and they're NEVER coming off!

I did take a Dremel to the sills and ground down the raised ridges (I have a 1st Gen) to create a more level (even) area for the epoxy to adhere. So far, they've stuck like champs.

BTW: Their "1st Gen" pic is my actual car (check pics in my sig).

ok i'm missing something here. I just my Acura dealership to get the price of the door sills, and they told me that they would be $17 a piece. So that's $34 for both of them. Why are they $75 on the evolution-autodesign website? Is it the way the material is or what? If someone could help me out with this, please do so. Thanks

well if you are talking about replacing the plastic door sills that come stock on the car, yeah that could be about $35 for both.

the $75 is for aluminum aftermarket door sills with acura cl type s printed on them.

from the dealer they are just talking about a piece of plastic

No thats nonsense.

Did you speak to Jeff? That person may have been talking about the 1 Gen CL door sills. Tell them you have a 2001 CL Type S and you want the sills with the Type S in red.

When i order the sills...

So when i send my money or whatnot, what exactly do i need to include when i'm saying what i want? Do i have to specify that i want the Type S in red? And i thought it was just the S that was in red anyway? Let me know. I'm trying to get these by the end of the week. And do i need to get the "brushed"? or what. Help me out!!!

It seems that you need the info spoon feed to you so your best off just calling jeff at evolution-autodesign. Also you are never going to get them by the end of the week.

Yeah if you’re ordering through the website make sure you specify you want the "S" in RED. Thats really it just be sure to select the 2001-03 sills and make sure you check that you want the logo.

It usually takes about 30 days, sometimes less, to get these so by the end of the week is gonna be tough to do.

I have the red S sills, anyway I have never installed them cause I plan to get another CLS. Has anyone cut the plastic sill like a window opening, and placed the metal sill below it so it shows thru like a window. It would look much better this way, be damage proof, and permanently attached.
If the plastic sills are that cheap I may try it myself but I don't have the proper cutting tools to make a clean opening in the plastic sill. What would you use to cut a clean 3 feet by 2 inch opening in the plastic sill?

Xacto knife after you mask off the exact area that needs to be cut out. It'll take a few passes to get through but it'll be clean and perfect

I went with the brushed finish. Looks the best IMO.
