I'm trading my 01 CL-S

For a 2002 cadillac STS
It has NAVI
It's Diamond White Pearl
with the cream seats
factory chrome wheels( I will have to replace the 17's with dubs)
the car has 20K(mi)
and they are asking 29,000

what do you think???

(I have gone through 5 tranny's and I'm sick of waiting for the car to downshift to first when I am going 50mph!!!!

The STS can be had for $25K - 28K. It's a very nice car as is the Eldorado Touring Coupe. It's almost as fast as a bone stock CL-S too plus the engine makes its power over a broad part of the rpm range unlike a peaky VTEC. The leather, wood, and interior accoutrements are vastly superior (much better than those of thr RL too).

Unfortunately Amercan cars depreciate quickly. After 3 or 4 years the Acuras resale value will be higher. But I can say that Caddy's last a very long time. Plus the Caddy has a tranny that works. And as far as gimmicks go nightvision trumps dvd based navigation any day of the week. Congratulations!

BTW: How many miles have you driven your CL-S? Five trannies is a lot!

I haven't gotten it yet and 29K is the asking price, my CL-S has 83,000 miles, and yes I am on my 5th tranny.

I think I can get them to knock a few thousand off the caddy. How much should I offer them? It is fully loaded with the Navigation

this could be why you've gone through 5 trannies.

It's still a Caddy...yuck. The only person I know that would be seen in one is my grandmother, and she admits it's really for the name.

The STS is a nice ride. Even more "boaty" then ours if yiu can believe it. That GM navi system your gonna get isn't gonna be that good however. Overall it is a great roomy car.

Keep in mind that the STS (and ETC) are FWD; and at 300hp, they're the most powerful FWD production cars on the market. Like Speedy posted, you can find a number of them for between $25G-28G. Keeping in mind that those cars cost >$50G MSRP new, they depreciate faster than just about ANY other production car. But they are sweet.

Not my cup of tea... I could find other cars I'd rather be in for that price. If I was about 30 years older a Caddy may appeal to me... but it would still be a stretch.

As for the tranny thing... 5 tranny's? You should have a lawyer and be filing for a lemon law. That way you get the money for your CL back.
