Got home from work this evening and heard from a neighbor that a freak hail storm passed through my neighborhood when we were out to dinner last night. So, I pulled the car cover off and found my beloved CL got absolutly hammered. I am sure the Insurance company will want to total it. May be in for a long battle. I have just spent over $3500 in the past 3 months doing tires and wheels, springs and shocks, and timing belt and motor mount. I also have recently done front and rear brakes, replaced the plugs, changed the transmission oil, had the brake fluid flushed, and when I first got the car replaced every single bulb in the dash. I also replaced the rear veiw mirror. I spent 4 months looking for a 6 speed CL with less than 100,000 miles and flew to florida to get it. Its is not a perfect car, but is pretty damn nice. I know what I have in this car, and dont know that I could find one as good mechanically as this. It would be a total crap shoot. I actually ordered all new emblems for when I repaint so I wouldn't have to worry about them being discontinued down the road. Of course Mr. Insurance could care less about any of this. Thanks for letting me rant.....I need to prepare for battle.

Sorry to hear this OP. All my cars (four total) are parked outside every day and night which makes me nervous every time a storm comes rolling through. A little over a year ago there was a widespread hail storm here in the DFW metroplex and literally totaled 1000's of vehicles. My friends Toyota Avalon looked like it was vandalized by a group of thugs the next day....absolutely horrid.

6mt swapped..smart
OH.........my......... Don't really know what else to say beside what horrible luck. I would ask insurance to go the route of replacing the hood and trunk as i'm sure they're hit the worst (along with the roof). They'll probably pdr the roof and from the work that the local guy does that I use, you will hardly be able to notice. Same thing with the quarter or any other areas. Explain what you just said to insurance and show them the build numbers to back up the fact that it's a pretty rare car. Speaking optimistically here, but a claim of that amount shouldn't even phase them. Even offer to source used parts yourself to lower the cost since they'll be getting painted anyway. On the bright side, at least the parts you need replaced are 01-03 parts. Could be worse, could be 03 only parts. Once again sorry about your luck. Made my stomach cringe early this morning..

I had to get PDR on my car for hail damage. It wasn't that bad. Where I live we get a lot of hail storms every single year. If you park outside or daily drive your car it is almost impossible to avoid hail damage.

Thanks every one. Meet with the adjuster next Wednesday. We'll see.
Damaged 442: The Oldsmobiles and wifes TL were all inside.
acura-dipset: I tried to take some pics but so much glare, that you couldn't really see the damage. The dents are small, but there are a gazillion of them. Maybe I'll try again since the sun is almost down.

Good news! Car not totaled. The Insurance company cut me a check for a boatload of PDR. There will still be some door dings that I'll have to pay to have taken out, and the clear coat is so fd up on the hood that I plan on saving up some $ to get the car perfectly straight and have it re-shot this winter. I will replace the moldings and emblems as well. I'm just happy I'm not ending up with a car that has a dinged title.
