i took off that annoying moonroof flap

i had my car taken in to have its oil changed and for the dealer to fix that damn booming moonroof. he said that he fixed it, and on my way home i opened the moonroof and it kept making that damn noise! so i decided to remove that flap entirely. it was really easy. there was a screw on each end took a couple minutes to do. now i have no more noise and my roof feels alot bigger. I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!!! LOL

Mine doesn't flap or make noise at all. Perhaps it was installed incorrectly; aftermarket?

MikeN had done this a long time ago. At the meet we all saw the difference, nothing much really, but it helped his noise problem too.

Damn..that sounds like a great idea. The dealers supposedly fixed that too, but I still have the same noises.

Any decent dealer should be able to fix the problem- just follow the instructions they got. It should be quiet. You will notice wind turbulence in the car at high speed with it gone. don't leave any loose papers on the seat

Nope, the second smartest. I removed mine about 4 months ago. No more "booming" noise here either!

I'm sure the problem is finding a "decent dealer."

Either my car doesn't have the "booming" noise or I'm just not sensitive to it.

I noticed the noise could be decreased by lowering the flap. I looked at the flap and relized that the is a stop on the inner edge. I installed a 1/4" felt self sticking tab and the noise was lowered by at least 50%. At speeds above 50 mph the noise level is even better.

For me, the flap ONLY seems to BOOM between 25-33 mph on a still day. Anyone else experience this?
