I got smoked by a 97 M3 with light mods. We both pucked out of a tool booth, and I was able to hang with him for about 10 seconds, then he started pulling away. I let off by the time we hit 100mph.

I've run 2 M3s and beat both and I have no mods. One of the M3s had what I call light mods. Wheels and cat-back exhaust.

Why do you have "M5" in your alias? Why not 540sins? Isn't there a huge difference between a 540 6spd and M5 other than rims, grille and badges?

How did you get those times you have in your sig? Be really cool to see your timeslips. If you got those from GTech they are useless and way off (on the positive side). Post "your" timeslips would be really cool for us to see your 60ft, 1/8 etc..

What does the second word in 'M5 Lite' say again? Ah, yes, 'Lite', lets open up our dictionary and see what we have to say here:
lite (lt)
adj. Slang
Having less substance or weight or fewer calories than something else
Last time I checked my username was 'M5 Lite' and not 'M5'.

In North America when a guy renames/rebadges/or thinks/acts like his car is something than it is is not we call that "wannabe". ie. M5Wannabe (no offence just an observation). To even remotely think a 5406spd is BMW Motosport (M) lite or not is somewhat posing or wannabe.

I'm planning a trip to the track sooner than later before we get our first snow. Hang tight for the results. As a visual reference, I'll post the slips on here just for you

Well putting mag times (professional drivers, optimal conditions, corrected times etc..) in you sig is somewhat misleading. It would be interesting to see "your" times with the car not optimal times from a magazine. Again this is back to the posing/wannabe thing.

What is it that you drive right now?

I drive a CL-S. And yes I have driven both an M5 and 5406spd. There is a MASSIVE difference between the two cars. Putting a M5 grille on 540 isn't the difference. I felt the approx 120HP difference trust me. Maybe someday you can own an M5?

Have you driven the CLS vs. the CLP? Did you notice a difference or no?
Also, one last thing, please learn how to 'QUOTE' people on bulletin boards. You are supposed to let the reader 'READ' what you are talking about FIRST and then your reply AFTER. Maybe it'll start to make more sense once you get the hang of it. Until then, take care

The other was a stick and he dumped way too hard off the line. But hey, that's part of the race and he lost. He also didn't show me the midrange power either. bandito:
That said, I've driven that model M3 and while I think it is fast, I don't think it is any faster than the TLS. I would say that they are too close to call and the driver and or car will be the difference.

Well, to each his own.
To M5Lite's defense, I don't think he's a poser or wannabe, I don't see anything wrong with posting his 1/4 mile time from mags, hell MOST of you CLS/TLS guys swear you hit 14.8 yet maybe 1 person was able to back that up with timeslips and he was modded. Two, dude lighten up! So what if his name is M5Lite...sheesh!
Back to the topic, good race although not much info, but trust me I know what you mean. There were numerous times I took on cars that I was not quite sure what its capabilities were, but it was pure fun and as long as it's kept that way the more fun it really is...damn did that even make sense at all?

here are mine, if you have any doubts.
and my car was, is, and always will be completely stock while I am driving it.
for the record, I don't think m5lite (or m3sins or damaged or whatever he chooses to call himself later on) is a poser/wannabe simply because he alludes to m5 performance in his handle.

Tankmonkey r0x0rs
I'll vouch for Tankmonkey.
I was at HRP that day as well and can attest that he was BONE STOCK and in full street trim (jack, spare, stock tire psi, fully gassed up).
I'll bench race now a bit and say that with the jack and spare out, less than 1/8 tank and some experimenting on tire psi and launch techinique, he could have run 14.6s.
Dude can drive pretty well, though, so your results may vary...

I never doubted the TLS/CLS's ability to hit sub 15's in the 1/4. I was simply making a point in M5Lite's defense when the guy stated "show me timeslips".
BTW, good run man! Who's car was that with the timeslip of 14.066?

14.066? I think that's a bad scan. I have a timeslip on there that should be a 14.866 at 93.43 mph...

Don't get me wrong. They are fast, but so are the S-types.
