Congrats and nice kill. Do you have dyno #'s before and after the blower install?

Had a similar experience in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago. We went from a 20 mph roll 3 times with simialr results each time. This STI was modded but I have no idea other than the exhaust how much was done. Each run from 20-80 mph the sti pulled about 1 car length.

...so it might be safe to assume if the STI were stock then the race would have been dead even? I'm guessing you've got a blower too.

No dynos on my car. I just guess +-5hp/tq from other people's dyno runs. I'm getting one b/f and after the HBP install...if Velocity Resources ever gets it to me. Almost a month so far and no HBP...yet they charged my credit card.

I just got the HBP on today. Can't really tell a difference except the blower is louder. I assume that means it's working.

Do you have a boost gauge just to make sure the belt is not slipping.?? I could easily feel a difference.

I was thinking about a boost gauge. Do you recommend any in particular? Is it difficult to install?

I'm pretty sure I'm not getting slippage. In fact, I think the car feels better now. I think the belt must have been slipping before. I had an Acura mechanic put the HBP on the car. The other guy must not have torqued everything to specs.

A boost gauge isn't really nessesary with this type of blower. Provided it is torqued correctly you will not get slipping with just the HBP.

I was experiencing some slipping with the HBP. I consider the boost gauge to be a huge help to make sure i am getting everything out of the blower that i should be. How else would you know? My belt is very tight and I still see some slipping betwen 6000 and 7000 rpm. My boost is always highest right around 6000 (5.5psi) rpm then pulls back about 1 psi around redline.

Are you sure that is slipping?? That could be the nature of the airflow and a limitation in the blower to supply air at the higher rates.

When I originally installed the blower I could only boost about 4.5 psi with the HBP. The belt seemed tight. Then I really tightened it down hard and starting getting 5.5psi. make sure that belt is tight!

I know nothing about these gauges or how to install them. What brand are you using and where did you buy it? Do I "T" off the line going to the FPR?

That is a good place especially if using a mechanical gauge.

There are instructions with the units. To make it easy to begin and if you want to try a boost gauge get a mechanical unit just in case you don't want it later. This is the one I used:

to just ghetto rig a boost gauge, you just need to get a T, and puncture the line... it's really quite easy. The autometer gauges are okay, and they tie into your lights too...

Thanks for the link. I wonder if they make gauges that max out at 10 psi...seems like a waste to have a 20psi gauge when I'll only need to see 0-5psi.

Unfortunately the only one's I have found that show vacuum and boost go up to 20 PSI. I beleive there is an electrical gauge that only goes up to 15 though but it is about $250.

What about this one?

Do I really need one that shows vacuum?

That is for fuel pressure.

Well, theoretically it could work. It measures pressure after all and the media isn't really relevant. But it may confuse some getting in the car.

Anyway, no, vacuum is not required but it is nice to see. Let's say boost is down, you can look at vacuum to see if it is a leak or soemthing else.
