I really think that ford needs to drop the v6. If i was a mustang owner living in florida, i wold be pissed seeing that my daily driver is drivwn by millions each year as a rental car.

"This much is also clear: The cars you see here are just the start. Look forward to an ongoing rollout of special and higher-performance variants, but closer to the new model's debut, not just as a means to keep and old car marketable, as was the case with the previous-generation Bullitt and Mach 1."

I'm not sure that I can agree with the quality comment above .. I bought my 03 Explorer a month after my 03 CLS-6 .. and haveta say .. the Explorer has been far more reliable than the CLS in almost a full year of ownership of the two; I've put more miles on the Explorer than the CLS6 (11k versus 10k miles).
So in my experience with Ford and Acura (3rd Ford and 3rd Acura), I can say that Acura has been no better than Ford.
My current Ford has not been back for ANY warranty work .. definately can't say that about the current rattle-box Acura ...
My previous Ford had not gone in for any warranty work in the 2+ years I had it .. DEFINATELY can't say that about the Acura (that thing made trips every month - hell it was on its 3 tranny when Acura gave me the 6er - but the tranny wasn't the only problem with that thing).

I'd wait a few years for 'em to work the bugs out, but it is built on a modified version of the lincoln LS and Jag S-type chassis.
My last car was a rwd ford (94 Tbird), and I kinda miss it (even in the snow).
The more I see of it, the better I like it.

I think it looks hot and will be a major seller. As someone else said, what is it's competition? Also nice to see that JMays' design influence continues....

Pass.
Every Tom, Dick, and Harry will be driving one of those things.
And that is not even including all of the cars going to the RENTAL FLEETS.

looks like a sweet car.
it would be nice if the Mach 1 was set at ~350hp to compete with the GTO. i would def look in the direction of the GT or Mach 1 if i was in the market and if they have improved their build quality.

Damn-I guess I'm the only one who feels like they are going to puke when they see that "thing".
It seems retro cars are made for small markets (i.e. the Thunderbird). Do you really think this car will appeal to kids and young adults who never even saw the earlier Mustangs enough to make big sales?
I hated the look of those Mustangs back then and I hate the looks of this new one now!

Have always loved GT-350's! Ford and Pontiac sure caught Chevy unawares with start of muscle cars in 64! Camaro not till 67, at least started with Chevelle in 64 but did not like them till 66 of which I owned an SS-396l that I street raced in Riverside back in 72-73 blowing up 2 engines cause I raced it to death, but what a blast....Cobra's are gettin deep into the 11's with few tweaks, I still like Camaro's and Vettes better! Dreaming of my next car. Could be possible Stang but I've come across some fabulous used Camaros on a certain web site that have enticed me!

1. Without the V6 there would be no Mustang, period. At least they hve a decent engine in there now, unlike the archaic and thrashy 3.8L. The SOHC 4.0 makes 202hp/235tq, so it should be pretty solid low 15's/high 14's out of the box.
2. Also should be noted that 3.55 gears are standard in the GT, so not only does this model have more hp &tq, but it also has better tq multiplication. Gears are worth 2-3 tenths themselves, so mid 13's should be pretty easy seeing as how current Mach 1's with ~315hp/320tq have hit low 13's and run mid 13's bone stock very easily.

Watch out! The new mustang will be a hit.
also, does it come with 17 inch rims? I think for the body style, 18inch would look great. Wonder what dealer options there are for different wheels.

Ya know...if the top was a solid color...say black, and the rear quarter glass was included in the black...it would look identical to the old school stang.
I like it.

Suppossedly there will be a future Shelby Mustang. This could be a potential collectors car.
I personally think the new design is a big improvement.

I live in Livonia MI where about 50% of the residents are Ford Motor Company white collar employees. Many of my neighbors buy these for their kids and buy lincold LS's or mini jags (contours)
All you hear about is compaints on what a piece of shit cars they have to drive because they work at ford.
Quick cheap cars. Yes.
UAW built Trash, Definately
