I got OWNED!
This 1997ish Nissan Altima pulled up next to me two nights ago. I was at like 55MPH in 4th gear. He looks fairly stock, stock rims w/o hubcaps, and a small aftermarket muffler. He passes me, then slows down and I'm infront of him by like a car length. I hear him punch it so I downshift to 3rd and get on it. I stayed with him for a second or two, but by 75 MPH he was a good 3 car lengths ahead of me. I didn't even get to VTEC before I shut it down. Wasn't much of a race, but he had to have some sort of forced induction under the hood to pull on me like that.

yea i think high end you would've gotten to him, esp if you went 150+ unless of course he had some crazy ass built engine with a big ass turbo, but if that were the case im sure you would've heard a big exhaust tone from his cutout or atleast loud BOV... maybe he had nitrous?

I also noticed on my way home tonight i'm having belt slip issues. I'm only seeing 4.5psi at redline then it jumps to 6.5-7psi after I shift, only to fall back to 4.5psi again near redline.
Back to the dealership sometime this week to have it re-tightened.

his car was obviously not slow, but from the story it looks like you would of won. even with the sc, our cars are still pretty weak in the midrange. its all about vtec, 5-7k rpm is a whole other world compared to the earlier rpms, and you didnt even use it!
btw,
when we first installed the sc on my car, i felt the belt slipping. when you say that your boost falls off according to the gauge, do you feel a difference in power/feel the belt slipping?
the reason i ask is to see how much belt slipping can occur before we realize it is happening (through feel, not because the gauge tells you so)
also, is the boost constant all the way to redline and then drops off a few hundred rpms before it?

Haven't got around to it yet. I don't have $2,500+ to drop on it right now.

No boost isn't constant. I go WOT and I see about 6psi, until around 6000rpms and it begins to back off. Then shift into 3rd and it pegs out at 6.5-7psi and then repeats the back off in boost to 4.5psi.

As for the belt slip, I notice a slight loss in power, but the more noticable difference is the change in the tone of the blower whine. I need to get it tightened up this afternoon.

my boy has a 92 altima with an sr20det motor. he got the front end clip shipped from Japan. He looks stock except for the muffler, and black 5 spoke wheels. The car is a beast. I have only seen him get be by a kenn belle cobra and that was at the track. When he runs on the highway the car is an animal. He now has a 50 shot to aid him down low when the turbo is lagging.
