Well,
Last trip to jacksonville the V1 was worthless because it would not stick onto my windshield, the suction cups look like they are perfectly shaped, and stick on the window for about a minute before the V1 falls. anyone have any tips, I got another long trip tonight.

Mine falls sometimes. I do exactly what CLean B just said, clean cups and windshield, lick suction cup and stick .. press hard, get all the air out. I've had it for 10 months and they've only fallen like twice.

Also:
1. Don't put the suction cups in the "textured" area around the rear view mirror (I presume this is obvious, but ...) :captainobvious:
2. Sometimes the suction cups are just "lousy" (I never got two sets, and V1 sent me replacements and the new ones were really sticky on my very clean and cool window.)
3. Don't be surprised to see them pop loose if the temp is really hot out -- it doesn't happen to me often, but it has happened.
And, cleaning really makes a difference, if you have any "fog" on the inside of the windshield, it will make it difficult to get the cups to stick well....

Yes, heat is a problem. The only two times mine fell off were during the summer when the temps were scorching .. not much you can do about that though.

I had the opposite problem - my suction cups wouldn't stick when it was too cold out! This was last winter when it was < 0 F. The suction cups just froze and woudn't stick, so I used the holder that attaches to the visor.

yeah V1 suction cups really suck....my friends and i have the same problems. If it's cold out and i switch the V1 from one car to the other, forget about it....can't use it. BUT....if you put it on, it wont just fall off when it gets cold....big issue with V1s....i hope they'll fix it eventually.

Nice that V1 sent me free replacements within a few days. They did right by me!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I love the V1, except for this. Supposedly the newest ones are lighter than the older model. That may help. I think the problem is that it's just too heavy -- I never had this with my old Passport.
