I cant believe this!....

My Cl-s6 has 19000 miles on it. the starter broke and the car is 3 months out of waranty...$533 later its fixed....a 'dealer only' fix due to noone else making a starter for a CL with a manual tranny.

what else do I have to look forward too? a new tranny? the thing makes weird noises all the time and in 4th gear it likes to jerk around the entire car.

im disgusted with this, and i regret buying this hunk of honda shit. ive owned 3 other cars, all domestics - never once did i have a mechanical failure untill I had some serious mileage on them.

oh, but i guess I feel beter about paying 2x what anyone else pays for a starter because the acura dealer put my reciept in a nice little black portfolio...thanks guys!

If you hate it sell it

Did you buy it new? If not it sounds like the previous owner knew something was wrong with it. If it is already out of warrenty then I guess this was one of the very first 6spds out

Another prime example of someone who didnt know how to analyze a car before they bought it... If the car has problems from a previous owner the car can't magically fix itself.

Fact 1.) Imports > Domestics
Fact 2.) People who are car idiots will get ripped off.
Fact 3.) This guy is obviously a tool who got taken for a ride by the previous owner.
Fact 4.) Go buy yourself a Chevy Cobalt and have fun.

It's your fault man. If you did some research you would have found the parts places that sell Acura parts for way less then your dealer would charge you. Then you could have taken that part to a shop & had it installed for a lot less.

Where do you live? Cause if it's anywhere near me I'd gladly look over your car.

I just can't believe he went out on a limb and made a claim that domestics are better. If you have the same price category and compare an import to a domestic, its no cometition for overall quality.

I forget who it was, some car guide, here were the results...

Best Car from $10-20,000
Honda Civic

Best Car from $20-30,000
Honda Accord

Best Car from $30-40,000
Acura TL

Maybe Joed is right, maybe Honda is a piece of Junk and these people don't know what they are talking about.

Thats it, I am selling my car and getting a Ford Focus.

Nope, it's ABP and it's in NY...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181981

Fuzzy, this is the guy who had issues with the car "grinding" when he would start it in "gear"... I'm assuming he meant in gear with the clutch in....

100% smooth thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181661

Starter problem thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/auto-site-concepts-upcoming-releasees-183419/

The only reason I'm pointing out these threads, is that it seems like Joe is one of the few 6spd owners that has had problems with his 6spd. Seems like something is wrong with the car, so maybe one of the prior owners didn't know how to drive a stick

I fuck that one up all the time... that and guarantee... can never remember if where the e's and a's go...

It's all about function over form... It might not look pretty, but you know what we mean... I don't like argueing over symantics and grammar, as long as the ideas get out...

That's what I'm thinking. I've heard that shifting the CL-S six take somes getting used to. The previous owner probably screwed something up

The car is fine, hondas are fine, everything is fine - I was pissed off about the $533 - wouldnt YOU be??

heres the breakdown of exactly what happened:

'New' car + Overpriced mechanical failure = Angry JoeD

- you cant really trash a starter by not knowing how to shift the tranny.

31200-P8E-A02 part # for '03 auto

there are hundreds of starters for the auto on Car-Part.com for $100 and less. I didnt see one for the manual. cough $it$ up if it breaks.
