I think I liked the last generation RX7 design better, but this may grow on me. My first thought is that the front looks like it has wide hips with the rounded wheel wells offset from the body. I like the interior, but the stick shift triangle shape looks non-ergonomic and uncomfortable.

I've never driven an RX7/RX8/rotary engine driven car -- I may have to give this a test drive.

That's a nice looking ride, but I have to question suicide doors and the flared front fenders gotta hurt aerodynamics. YMMV

If it has a good aftermarket, I would seriously consider this car.

spec are on mazdausa.com.

Taking pre-orders NOW!, Fully loaded ( NAV included) MSRP with destination fee is $33,100

250 HP, 159 lbft of torque... I knnow it needs an extra 50lbft to be a real rocket!

Here is the pdf for the specs: http://www2.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/rx8..._and_specs.pdf

Cool car, definitely but $33,100 is a tad heavy...my understanding from the C/D article on the car is that they cannot turbo it *yet* becuase the exhaust coming out is not at a sufficient temperature to efficiently catalyze it in the converter (damn EPA again) and a turbo would make the problem grow.

Just waiting to see if there is a way to add some real 50 lbft...

Maybe an MPS version? Estimate now it would do 14.5s @ 100 MPH... not bad for NA 1.3L engine
