In my old POS Chevy I turned off everything but in my Accord it doesnt make much of a difference. When its hot and i'm at freeway speeds the A/C is usually on but I much prefer fresh air so as soon as I get off the highway I open everything. I guess what gavrill says has some merit cuz I never get that smell in my car.

Okay I leave it on all the time before turning off the car regular or auto mode. This is except winter fall & early spring months. I use my A/C all the time except cold winter. As someone said there is nothing in the owners manual that says turn it off because it may cause damage in on position when starting the car.

Same with me. If i'm alone, no matter how hot it is I'll never use my a/c. I love driving with the windows down, even in traffic.

A ride next to a RTD bus belching black smoke (in Los Angeles) will cure you of that habit in a hurry...
Heck, pretty soon everyone will need charcoal and HEPA filters around here...
