How many park their CL for the Winter?
Just wondering how many people park their CL in the winter and use a beater or some other car for the winter months? I got tired of stones and road salt chipping my paint and my windshield, so I got a 95 F-150 4x4 for the winter and the rain. I dont drive my CL unless its a nice dry day.
Anyone else?

When I buy a car I intend to drive it when and as much as I like without worrying about mileage or weather conditions.
In two years I intend to sell the CLS and then buy a 2002-2004 911 Carrera 4 and I will still use this car as my daily driver-even in the snow if necessary!
My theory is that if you baby a car too much bad things happen to it! You have to treat a car like a car and roll with it.

My co-workers look in my parking space to see what the weather is supposed to be. If it's going to be rainy or snowy, I take my Land Rover, on a clear dry day, I take the CL, if it's going to be be REALLY nice, I take my Boxter, and if it's my birthday or some other special occasion special occasion, I take my vintage Porsche. If I have the CL on a day that it's supposed to rain, they alwys let me know I messed up.

Now when I had my A4 Quattro, that was an all year car. It was awsome in the snow (better then the current truck I got). I am way to picky to have my car get all nicked up from stones. I sold the Porsche that I had because it was full of stone chips. But at 70,000 miles and being that low, what car wouldnt.

The car is a CL, not a Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini.
The only Acura worthy of being parked for the winter is the NSX.
I bought a car that can be used ALL YEAR LONG.
When I do get a “toy car” it’s gonna be something like a Viper, NSX, Porsche Turbo or something like that.
THEN that car will park for the winter.
A 30,000 dollar car should be able to handle itself in all conditions with the proper tires.
As for the “BEATER” idea. I guess it’s nice to have a car just for winter driving.
I just don’t like the idea of registering, maintaining, insuring, storing and otherwise caring for the extra car all year long.

Yeah, I never though of it that way. The truch was 6 grand and add on the 400 buck insurance a year and that could pay for a lot of nicks and stone chips and tires on my CL. But it is so nice not to worry about what you are driving. If I get hit in my truck, I really dont care. Door dings dont bother me any more either on my truck. Now as far as my CL goes, it got a door ding the second day I got it. And since I got it repaired, all has been well.

I parked mine at the body shop for four weeks,,, I avoided a girl who was about to rear end me and I rear ended a cherokee.. Chevy Malibu's the renter winter beater for now. Plus what's snow ??

I now drive an accord....
I don't drive my CL in the winter simply because I have another car that I already own snow tires for. I didn't buy my second car as a beater I already owned it when I bought the CL and didn't want to get rid of it. Plus there is no sense in buying snow tires and risking wrecking the CL when I have a second car that I don't really care about. It is true that the CL is only a 30000 car but since im 22 years old its hard for me to say "its ONLY 30000" considering I work hard to make the payments on this car

I bought my FWD CLS so I could drive it in winter. I definitely would have bought something else if it was a summer car (i.e. RWD). I think the CLS makes a great winter beater

I agree with you guys, why would you store a FWD car? besides, it's a Acura CL! Not a Porsche. Anyways, hate to sound like a hypocrite, I have a 350z and an 01 Civic as a "beater." I still drive my Z, but I didnt want to do the entire winter shoes, etc...so it's in the garage when it snows and when it will get extremely cold. I was also racking way too many miles on my Z, I want to keep it for awhile so I drive both cars....

Everyone must understand that we're not all well off. To some of us the CL is a Ferrari (hypothetically speaking). It's the closest a majority of us will get to one
I know that it's not a 150k car but it's my Luxury Sport Coupe. If I wanna baby it, I think I have the right to.
So :pfawk:

i don't understand why so many feel that a car has to be a near exotic to be worthy of preserving. the cl's design overall is excellent. if you look at alot of classic cars many were not super high performance. ex.1965 mustang. based on falcon chassis which translated into modest driving dynamics, ordinary interior, no real breakthrough engineering. but it appealed to many. i think the fact that this forum exists with so many members proves that the cl is an enthusiasts car. anyone can make payments and have the latest rage in a car. it takes a true car lover to have the discipline, conviction and emotional attachment to keep a car mint for 10 or more years. yes my 6 speed takes a sabbatical from the elements. i run my 91 hardbody p/u or 92 v6 xle for commuting and inclement driving. i look forward to taking her out on a nice day in the year 2018 looking as near as new as possible.

Its not a matter of the CL being an exotic. I just enjoy driving a car that is always brand spankin new.
The best part is that the CL , which has rarely been driven on wet/damp pavement will soon move over into being my "winter beater" and it is in perfect condition........

Its not stored for the winter but I dont drive it in the snow. I have a Dakota 4X4 for that. I have much more confidence in my truck that I'll get from point A to point B when theres a foot of snow on the ground like last weekend

My 6sp is tucked away in the garage. I have a 94 Accord as my back and forth car to the train station and winter car. I posted on this before. I have had many problems with parking a car at the train station. So, with the new 6 speed I finally go a second car. I know some people have issues with this, but I love having a nice car and I can easily swing the second car. So, it works for me.
My garage is like a second home for me. I have the gym in there a TV and a stereo. So, is fun to spend time in there with my mint 6sp.
Happy Holidays!

Where is my super sauce?
The CL is my daily driver, and was bought with that intention. I love it. It's a great car, but I don't think it's so great to be thought of as a second or third car, only to be taken out on occasions.
It is garaged everyday though. I don't park it on the street. A quick wash & rinse removes the road salt and dirt, so the car is pretty clean most of the time, even in winter.
