How do you feel about your Type S' transmission???

I was just wondering, how does everyone feel about their Type S' tranny? Are you scared to go "too far" with modding ? Don't you wish you could get a small NO2 kit, and use it worry free? Do you wish you had bought a different car, so you wouldn't have that thought in your head that your tranny may not be able to support the engine?

I have a lot of those feelings, but see people getting NO2 kits (wheather it be a dry 50 shot, or 100), and people crying for more performance parts....am i missing out on something about our trannies, or is everyone else just fearless with their $32,000 dollar investment?

I would feel better about "upping the HP" if the tranny came from a mythical V8 model that handled 400 HP / 400 lb-ft of torque....

OR

Keep talismans of choice near the shifter...

Perhaps, "fresh" data from a few S/C boosted models (with tranny cooler and Redline's synthetic High Temp ATF) will help...

I sure don't have any plans on driving at WOT for extended periods on hot days!

IMO, 100-shot of NOS + lead foot == tranny problems

If you can afford too mod out your ride with lots of BPUs, then you can afford to replace your blown tranny.

Well here is how it is. Our tranny's (well most of ours) are pieces of shit (its the only part made in japan lol) I am spraying a 75 shot, and im on my 2nd transmission. If you go into your dealer and say my transmission is fucked fix it, and they say what did you do its time for you to find another dealer and say my transmission is fucked. The moral of this story is any good dealer will not ask any questions about a part of the car that they know for a fact is fucked. So take advantage of this and go donate 500-1000 dollars to your nearest performance shop, and when that tranny starts to take a , take out the NAWWWWSSS, go to your dealer and say "MY TRANNY JUST TOOK A SHIT".

Thank you Ill be here all night.

I have a "BIG" fear of my tranny crapping out on me . This is why I really don't plan on keeping my car much longer . I think that if i knew that our trannys were a piece of shit to begin with i wouldn't have bought this car . I'm scared to do h/e ...basically put more money into when i basically know that its gonna take a big shit one day . I see the new Z coming out and infinity G35 coupes ....and i'm just thinkin ....or just get a hatch and do a swap and turbo charge it . I hate my local dealership so i hate going to them for anything its a 30 min drive and then there assholes to me so I try my best not to go to them .

I'm actually not to scare. I don't plan to add anything to my car so I have a different opinion.

I've gone to numerous dealers and talked to tons of people there about their trannies. I'm not scared and drive it hard.....the problem is not as big as it seems on this board.

I hope your kidding and not condoning this type of behavior.

But, in case you were serious:

Any good dealer would and should ask questions. Your spraying Nitrous, your warranty will be voided if they find out. This is called abusing the system and probably one of the reasons why when us young guys go in for service we get funny looks when we say our trannys are broken.

So take advantage of this and go donate 500-1000 dollars to your nearest performance shop, and when that tranny starts to take a , take out the NAWWWWSSS, go to your dealer and say "MY TRANNY JUST TOOK A SHIT".

We've argued this point before. Nitrous CAN be detected by a good mechanic who is looking for it. I don't know why you would persue honda for a new tranny when your trying to put more power to it through nitrous. At least be responsible for your own actions. Just think how embarassed you would be if they came back to you with Nitrous residue and your warranty is fucked.

Heh, our Microsoft Rep is a soccer mom. 4th, I repeat 4th tranny. She asked me the other day if that was my silver one in the lot... ten minutes later she finished telling me her saga. Holy shit did I feel better. Glad I'm only one number 2

I have the 6sp and I do not intend to mod the engine beyond a CAI, so I'm pretty confident that I won't have any tranny problems.

I know there is a chance I could have transmission problems. Probably no more than with any other car I could of bought. Read other forums, it happens.

My biggest issue is seeing replaced transmissions failing. That is not acceptable.

Parts fail, even in new vehicles. But 2 or more times in the same car .... that is too much. I have never read about replaced transmissions failing on other vehciles.

Auto trannies are not cheap, but cheaper than missing a shift and replacing an engine. :P

I would be dancing and jumping if Acura can get us a M3 like SMG 6-speed gearbox! Otherwise, I would say forget it... I am switching. The best thing about the CL-S 5 speed is its consistency not its quickness. I think even if you would drop $5k on a SC and mods, you would barely hit 14.0 or if you are luck be in hi 13s. I would say buy a G35 Coupe or Z350 and you would be happier!

Imagine when Nissan comes with a factory Bi-turbo Z350 pumping close to 400 HP.....Then, Acura NSX can eats the Z dust!

I will be looking also to the next S4!

IF Audi does put out another S4 it's gonna be a monster. Safe to say that it will be out to whip the M3 in every category as Audi is on a bender, so it seems, to chase BMW down. I've been following their cars very closely the last couple of weeks.
